Hasbro Equivalent: Beast Wars 10th Anniversary

Beast Wars Telemocha Series was Takara’s equivalent to Hasbro’s Beast Wars 10th Anniversary reissue line. Released entirely in 2007, the series succeeded a one-set toyline known as Beast Wars Reborn, which is also included in this wiki section. Even though the name Telemocha seems to imply “distant coffee” to English speakers, it is a portmanteau of television and omocha (meaning “toy” pronounced with /ch/ as in Charlie), essentially touting the figures’ screen accuracy.

Despite the superficial similarity to Beast Wars 10th in the West, Telemocha was distinct in several ways. While both lines used the original Beast Wars Deluxe class molds in premium “show-accurate” decos, Telemochca also used selections from Japan-only Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo. Of the figures that were shared across the Pacific, none used exactly the same deco, and often used different base plastics. Each Telemocha figure was packaged with a DVD containing an episode of the Japanese-dubbed Mainframe Beast Wars cartoon (even if the character was from II or Neo), and also contained a series of stills of the Telemocha figures interacting with contemporary Movie Fast Action Battlers in front of CGI backgrounds. Like Beast Wars 10th Anniversary, Telemocha again included redecoes of Ultra class Convoy and Megatron, though not using the retooling created for the Beast Wars Reborn set released the prior year.
