I looked up his value in Toyfaire magazine & he's listed as a "Le car". What in the world is a "Le car" & what company makes it? My cousin thinks he's a Maserati. Can anyone help me with this?
lancia stratos turbo, which is their racing type. the squared fender edges and the front and rear spoilers indicate this. the 539 car is a real car, though they changed the sponsor name by one letter for copyright purposes.
the real car:
that's because the alitalia stratos rally mopped all ass for years. the turbo car did fairly well, too, but the porsche 935 (jazz) was dominating the road racing scene at the time, so it never achieved the same acclaim.
I have to add, that the Lancia Stratos was created only to win the World Rally Championship.
And Savanna, as for the Alitalia livery...What is for you a Lancia? Martini Racing, like the Delta? The Stratos also existed in a red color. To me this the very heck of a Lancia!
actually, i just read the whole story behind the lancia stratos in Road and Track's "Exotic Cars: 5". The stratos won the WRC in 1974-6, and the Euro Driver's Championship in '76-8. Only about 500 were made, counting the racing ones.
gotta love rally homologization. 500 was the minimum at the time. lots of other cars have had the same thing, sometimes down to just 50 cars so they could race one in trans am.
