original optimus prime

Post by kconroy »

I just purchased a 1984 optimus prime from ebay for my boyfriend for Christmas. It appears to be original; however, my boyfriend had mentioned that the originals were metal . . . mine is not. I was also expecting something larger- the trailer on mine is about 8.5 inches. Is there something else out there I missed. If so, what is it called. I wanted to get him the best?.

Originals were not Metal for all I know, and were all plastic. Not sure about JP versions though.

Hi. The first release of Optimus in 1984 has the trailer with metal parts. The later version doesn't. However, all versions have a metal chest and metal feet in the cab. Hope this helps.
