That reminded me of a time at my local wal-mart where I saw one of those Bumblebee three packs that had two Universe Sunstreakers in it...

and just starting of this post with "That reminded me of a time" reminded me of Kup...

These things are flooding the market and ruining it all for proper collectors.

Well, does it really? Only way to be sure is not buy any G1s. Apart from Prime's box I couldn't tell the difference between these and the real thing.

These aren't KOs, they're genuinely fakes, exact replicas. It's really very sad, and when I read the thread I couldn't find one forum-member who criticized the seller. Promoting stuff like that on a Tf board should be a reason to ban IMO.

Those boards have been debating the issue since the KOs first appeared. At this point, the TRUE collectors are saving their breath/fingers, since it falls on deaf ears. Some people either just don't get it, or don't care.

This is frightening. The other thing these are hurting is the value of our genuine toys, for those of us who have them. My question is why hasbro has held no reprehensibility to these people. They won't use the word "transform" in the instructions, for fear of other people calling their toys transformers, yet here you have people making tons of money off of hasbro's expensive-to-make designs, using their trademarks, logos, and even styrofoam forms!
And the truth is, i've never minded KO's. like those cheesy defensor sets you can get at K-mart for $8 that are called like "formo robotts" (mispelling intentional), more power to em. you can buy them and bash them, whatever. But these are designed with the express purpose of deceiving people into thinking they're getting something that they're not. And that's not right...

That makes me depressed...

Although I'd almost be willing to jump on that Wheeljack... but not.

I am a huge fan of the G1 boxes. I would like to have them all someday, but this ruins it. I may buy a box and the guy will say its genuine. There's not really a way other than it being brand new, that i'll be able to tell. I guess thats their point though.

most of my g1 collection is boxed but i try to buy carefully
i hate these repro boxes thats why i only buy g1 boxes from the tfl store now
im told that there are very small differences on the ko boxes but you have to know what youre looking for
most of the ko boxes ive seen have italic style writing in the tech specs and its in a different font to the genuine g1 as is the autobouts primary function on the box front ( ie grimlock dinobot commander as opposed to grimlock dinobot commander )
also there are minor spelling differences on most of them ( grimlock dinobot comander as opposed to grimlock dinobot commander )

theats in my experience dont count me as 100% right on this
