Rate our new site features!
As you all know by now, we've overhauled major portions of the site, and we're planning to overhaul any that haven't already been hauled-over so far. We've upgraded to phpbb3, revamped the page styles, made the store super-awesome-cool, and expanded the archive with big plans for more.
What have each of you noticed so far? What do you like (or not) and why? Have you read any of the new archive articles (check the 1984 characters)? Zoomed in on a store item? Poke around and let me know what you think! What future projects, functionality, or tweaks would you like to see?

Re: Rate our new site features!
The only thing that bugs me is that there isn't a clear link back to TFL from the TFL forum.I would bet you are working on that currently or will be shortly... I want the store links at the top again. It's almost a hobby to browse thru the TFL store planning my next purchase for when my bills get in order, lol.
Oh, and the TFL site looks amazing... I don't know who all had the design know-how, but it's done well and done right... I want to give you all my money that I don't have now and place an order, LOL.
It's that good.

Re: Rate our new site features!
I'll pass that one along to our webmaster Wait'll you see some of the stuff that will be on the site in the next few months! And yes, we do plan to "wrap" the forum with the new headers and sidebars. Soon, I hope!

Re: Rate our new site features!
Our web admin has also added "bread crumbs" between the TFL header and the large topic name. These will show you exactly where you are in the forum, and allow you to link back to any level above what you're currently viewing. You'll notice this same functionality within the store listings. We're also working on anti-spam countermeasures. Since some organizations are now hiring humans to read and beat "captcha" style anti-bot tests, spammers have been slipping in lately. I think we might have it licked now, so hopefully you won't even see any illicit users or posts again!

Sidebars on the forum pages would be nice. I don't know how the webmaster over at www.hisstank.com does it, but they host live links to Ebay auctions for G.I. Joe action figures in their sidebar. That'd be nice to bring over here if possible?

Re: Rate our new site features!
It's possible, but it doesn't make much sense. Since we operate a store, it would be silly to give free advertising to people that might be selling the same items, even though I'm sure our prices are better

I was thinking the same thing.. But then I started thinking, how about your ebay listings? Most of us don't get to see what it is you are selling on ebay.

Transformerland's eBay items are all also in the store stock. You can view and buy them here as normal.

Re: Rate our new site features!
Yeah, I guess I didn't think that one through. I'm pretty much exclusively only buying 3rd party or Masterpiece now-a-days. And I'd only be looking at Ebay to get what I wouldn't be able to pre-order/order now (aftermarket). I just don't see a lot of those come through here but hopefully that will change.Time Traveller wrote:It's possible, but it doesn't make much sense. I think it might make more sense to move the "repaint" stat to the top photo with the figure and accessories rather than having to scroll down to the photo of the figure body and find it there. Its easy to miss in the current location.
Also for the g1 combiners I think it made move sense to organize them by group (like technobots) rather than putting them into a straight vertical alphabetical list.

Re: Rate our new site features!
Thanks for your feedback, LD! About the "mold match" link's visibility, we have already discussed that. We're discussing the best visual presentation for text based links to work with our new layout, yet be obvious and attention-grabbing. At that time, we'll make the mold match more prominent.
As for the "subgroup" vs. "set" listings, you are absolutely right. We do that already with post-G1 series. I'll mention it to the webmaster tomorrow!
Thanks for the comments guys, keep 'em coming!
EDIT: I think a change was made to the combiners page to group them by set, but it seems we didn't achieve the intended effect. Thanks for catching that!

Has the "negotiate" option been removed? I kind of liked the haggling part

Hm. I haven't gotten used to the new setup for creating and moving forums. I'll go look into it.
Bearzillatron, you're still welcome to negotiate, but keep in mind we deal with very high email volume, so it may take some time. This is a big part of the reason we've stopped inviting it: we need to free more time for finding items and getting them into the store!
EDIT: almost forgot to mention, the combiners listing in the archive is fixed!
