Rate our new server

As you may or may not be aware, we have (finally) switched servers. This is by no means permanant, and we would like your input so we can decide whether to park our site located on this server, or keep looking!

If you have any experience with our old server, please select one of the comparison options

Just out of curiosity Trance, but why change when it was ok in the first instance?

It's possible that you may have never visited the site when there was a problem, but my old server (netbunch/webhostplus) would go down for days at a time without warning. They did not regularly back up files and databases, and I had several heart attacks where the server crashed and I had to rely on my own backups.

But the main problem was the tech support was a joke. They had no live help, their phone was disconnected, and there was no way to contact them except by submitting a trouble ticket, which would go unanswered for no less than 1 week.

If you run a search for these companies (netbunch/webhostplus), you'll see what I mean.

TT can also attest to the problems of the old server

I do remember it, the site would go down for a couple of days and the message would be that it was unavailable or experiencing technical difficulties. Better off without 'em I say!!

I voted in this and I think I may have been premature.

this morning I keep getting an error. It's like some phpbb error that have a link to the directories and it won't load the pages. after fighting with it they eventually load tho. but it's a massive pain.

I haven't had any problems with the new server as of yet ... hope I didn't jinx myself, though.

Rodimus (well, actually anybody) -- If you do experience a problem, just copy it to a temporary .txt file on your computer's hard drive, then when things are working again, post the error message here.

From what it seems, the new server may be on a small network. When large amounts of bandwidth are being used, the site may spit out errors, but it seems like it's only for 10 seconds or so.

If Arcee was getting the same as me, I haven't even been able to get the page to load.
Just the normal page not found error.

nothing to do with phpbb code or anything, just no page to locate period.

I haven't experienced any difficulties so far with the new server.

By the way, I do appreciate to have the navigation bar next to the forum, earlier it was like two sites with the same name, but different contents.

Yeah, that's the server drain issue. These guys run a small company, but the good thing about small companies is the fast, friendly support

Indeed, the big companies couldn't give a damn about the little guy. The smaller companies need the $ more than the big ones that dont care, lets face it they are doing a great job.

Yeah, "page not found" sounds about right. It usually works okay again after a while, though. It's nothing too frustrating.
