ROTF composite devastator 101

Post by Deszaras »

Before you get started with lesson 1 you will need:-
1 X ROTF voyager Demolisher
1 X ROTF FAB Long Haul
1 X ROTF deluxe Rampage
1 X junker bot with some minicon ports.

Step 1:
Transform all of your constructicons into vehicle mode and then you have to get them into these configurations:-

Step 2:
Take your junker and cut the minicon ports from it. Make sure to leave some plastic below the port so you can get a better fit when you come to glue them in place. As you can see here they fit into the holes in Demolisher's wheel supports:-

Step 3:
Stand Rampage and FAB Long haul up. Adjust Rampage's bucket so he stands up on it better. Then you have to glue your minicon ports onto these two figures at about the same height.

Step 4:
Once the glue is dry tab Demolisher into the minicon ports. You should then have something like the following:-

Notes:-
Doing thing does not affect these figures in any way and they will all still form vehicle/robot mode normally.

I will have painted the two additional parts to mecth by the time I do the next one of these.

And that's the end of lesson one of ROTF composite devastator 101. Next lesson will be posted once I get ROTF Mixmaster who I have preordered.

I second that Kup, I am going to watch this topic with interest.

If you would be so kind as to answer a question Des, would it be possible to drill through and attach the minicon ports with some form of screw rather then using glue? I haven't had the chance to see these toys so I am unsure of how much plastic/room there is to play with where the ports need to be attached.

I can't believe I thought Cassettes were the way of the future.

Is +1 on Kups list.

It could be done with rampage I suppose but you would need some pretty longish screws as You'd have to drill through the wheel. not sure on FAB long haul. I'll check and get back to you on whether or not you could do that. {I've used glue because my drill bits aren't the right size.}

Brief update for you Rumble. It is possible to put a screw into the port on FAB long haul as theres a normal screw just inside where I glued the port on.

all you'd have to do is remove the short screw that's already in there. Drill the hole a little bit longer so that it passes into the base plastic of the minicon port and put a longer screw in. Something I will most likely go and do. :wink:

no probs

After further checking its exactly the same story with Rampage. {Take out the screw already present in the wheel. Drill hole through and put in longer screw}

Where can I get these mini con ports, I'm not sure I understand what they are. I see them in the pic, just wondering how to obtain some of these.

Looks amazing, I mentioned in my devastator thread that I knew someone on here would attempt this and it looks fantastic Desz

Minicon ports are present on just about every figure form the armarda line (they are the pegs you plug the minicons into). Armarda junkers are quite easy to find.

I want to know one thing... What are you going to use for the head? Voy Mixmaster hasn't got any space for one to be mounted...

Well after speaking and arranging a trade with a guy on another TF site I frequent I have a nice shiny ROTF mixmaster on its way to me. Once he arrives and I look him over lesson two will be posted. And depending on what I find out when I get the figure it may involve a little more work that has been needed so far. but I will try and make it as simple as possible so that anyone who wants to try it can. :wink:

Great work so far, Des. Looking forward to the rest of the tutorial. I like how simple things are so far (even I could do this and I've never customized a TF before).
