I've seen some references to Ratbat having come with "Gold" weapons. Mine are chrome. Any idea why this is?
Thanks in advance.

Many of the cassettes, both autobot and decepticon have a less common gold-weapon variant. this occured in mostly the 1986 cassettes: frenzy/ratbat and slugfest/overkill for the 'cons, and rewind/steeljaw and eject/ramhorn. the figures them selves were no different, some were just packaged with gold weapons rather than chrome. do note, though that both figures in a package would have the same color weapons either way, because the four weapons (two for each) were likely molded on the same sprue. also, no 84(or 85 reruns) cassettes had gold weapons, and the '88 cassettes (grand slam/raindance and squawktalk/beastbox) all had standard chrome weapons.
why did hasbro do this? i don't know.
