What is an untabbed variant fist?

So I was browsing the store for fists for my Ramjet, when, I came across "Untabbed variant fists". could anyone explain to me how these differ from the regular fists?

okay, see how there are little white slots there? they go around three sides of a rectangular tab on either side of the fist. the untabbed variant, like all my 'con jet fists, have only a tab on the outside, and the inside is solid, so you can't see straight through. the difference is one tab instead of two. i wish i had a pic of the untabbed to show you.
functionally, there is no real difference, and they should be cross compatible. does that answer your question sufficiently?
