10 Horizontal comparisons: You decide whodda one

In G1 Transformers toylines, there are particular robots who transform into the same alternative modes. eg. the typical Autobots transform into cars, while the typical Decepticons transform into seeker jets. However, we are not gonna talk about the common knowledge above, instead those Transformers able to transform into some specific alternative modes are our focus right here.

Please let me explain more about it. For example, we have four G1 Transformers who can transform into guns, and they are Megatron, Galvatron, Shockwave, and Sixshot. Here's the question: who is the best toy in technical terms. The design of transformation, the colour, the appearance, and the function should all be taken as the criteria of judging which toy is better made.

Now, it's time for yo to decide which Transformer is better designed and engineered in each comparison.

Guns: Megatron, Galvatron, Shockwave, Sixshot
Trucks: Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Motormaster
Tanks: Warpath, Omega Supreme, Blitzwing, Brawl
Motorcycles: Wreck Gar, Groove, Afterburner
Helicopter: Sandstorm, Springer, Vortex, Blades, Whirl
Lions: Steeljaw, Razorclaw
Rhinos: Ramhorn, Headstrong
Ambulances: Ratchet, First Aid

I was about to put Soundwave and Blaster on as cassette players, but immediately I realized there is just no comparison between Blaster and Soundwave, one of the most popular and the best G1 Transformers ever made.

In addition, I also thought about all the cassettes. However, the fact is their cassette modes are totally the same, even the sizes are the same. Therefore, it would be a better idea to make another topic post to discuss the comparison of the cassettes.

My choices:

Guns: Megs and immediately next Shockwave. The other two are no match!
Trucks: Optimus Prime. Wins to Ultra Magnus IMO for the color scheme, though I love car transporters. However Magnus doesn't have a trailer too believable as Prime.
Tanks: Blitzwing. Man, this was hard to me to tell! But I picked it due to the color scheme (Omega loses here first and then Warpath -- Too easy to see a tank on those flashy colors!) and because it has an alternative transformation (which made it to me better than Brawl).
Motorcycles: Groove. The others are not too believable.
Helicopter: Blades. I like this dseign the best. By the way, here you forgot Whirl.
Lions: Razorclaw. Again, color scheme. The original Predacons rock!
Rhinos: Headstrong. Same as above.
Ambulances: Ratchet. I'm loyal to the original Transformers and Ratchet is more accurate as ambulance as First Aid.
Space Shuttles: Astrotrain. Same reasons as Blitzwing. What about Sky Lynx?
Fire Trucks: Inferno. Same reasons as Ratchet.

Come to think of it, I do agree with ya on Whirl's chopper mode is outstanding, it's a cool helicopter! Just the robot mode doesn't look all that good.

Whirl belonged to other anime, I think its name its Dorvack. That's why it's not too designed to be a "sentient robot".

and as for your comment about blaster and soundwave, ever seen season 2's "auto-bop"? soundwave and blaster have an interesting lord of the rings style battle where they throw each other against walls without touching one another. blaster wins.

Roadbuster is some kind of AWD vehicle, I think it is Swindle look-a-like, isn't it?

However there you go, Whirl has more an utilitary face rather than an expressive one like other Transformers.

Good News! I just got my very first G1 Whirl today, and I love its design so much, seriously, folks.
I still need to collect G1 Vortex and Blades to complete my G1 Helicopter collection! Long way to go... ...
