G1 Optimus Prime

Post by RocKayaker »

First time to the board. I just picked up a " G1" prime...I think. With all the remakes out there how can you/I tell what Generation prime I have. His cap is a quarter metal. Most of the cap is plastic but the part that holds the windows is metal. Any advice? Thanks

G1, G2, and various KO's all have the window portion of the cab as metal, with the rest of the cab as plastic. The next part is to check date stamps, or post some pictures for the experts to analyze!

If you have the cab only, there's no date stamp to look for. Is it used, or unplayed?

if the smokestacks do not go any higher than the cab, then it's a Toys R Us re-issue

That's a nice looking Prime you have there. 8) Definitely looks legit. Congrats! Do you have any other accessories that goes with him?

The cab looks much better than the trailer, which seems to be legit.

The trailer has a broken tab (to attach the ramp), which is seen on playworn Primes; the cab looks much fresher, it's the later version with rubsign, judging by the wear on the trailer, Prime cab should have cracked headlights, which look OK from here. My conclusion is that you may have a mixed, albeit correct matched, 1985 Prime.
