That is all for now.

If it applies to all hasbro properties, then I'm gonna guess some form of merger/takeover.

Disney?

It probably has to do with their TV channel.

You know what?

I would venture to guess that it would simply be about the joined Hasbro/Discovery Network channel, BUT....

The announcement is set for the annual investors day (where shareholders come to discuss the future of the company).

IF (and that is a rather sizable "if") there were a merger to take place, that is when it would be discussed.

Very interesting new angle and conjecture point, ismellicecream. And, this is the interweb, so where else should one conjecturize?

Just guesswork - probably jaded from working in a similar industry and learning (or presuming) to read between the lines.

Big announcement usually = redundancies, losses, etc

Big News usually = merger, positive takeover, new horizons, etc.

As for my assumption of Disney - it wouldnt harm them to get a big stable toy company under their wings.

(As I was typing this I remembered the existence of the mickey prime and bumbleduck or whatever his name is - maybe thats subconciously why I thought of disney, or maybe that was hasbro testing the waters with disney merchandise before accepting a takeover)

Time will tell, I wait with baited breath as to how wildly off the mark I am. :D

Well, just to add to the conspiracy theory (because I love a good conspiracy theory), Disney recently bought out Marvel (the comics company).

Hasbro produces the Marvel lines of action figures.

When has Disney ever given up the chance to make money on merchandising?

Dun, dun, DUNNNNNN!

So far the only major announcements of note have been that Hasbro has relaunched Micronauts (a very strange decision), My little Pony and Jem will be getting new shows, and that the new line of TF's for 2010 (after ROTF) will be Hunt for the Decepticons (similar theme to GI Joe's Pursuit of Cobra line).

This will probably mean more inline with movie themed characters than traditional characters (as with Joe), but no word or images were released.

Advertising for the JV (Joint Venture) Network will not begin until February. No word yet released on Joe or Transformer based tv shows.

New update on Jem:

It may not be a series, after all but a live action movie instead.....
