Until sweeps week, when the new, Matrix-powered Borg return, only to be thwarted by the combined efforts of the Ghost of Optimus Prime, Captain Picard, and MacGyver.
if whopi goldberg couldn't beat the borg, i doubt prime can be much of a factor. Macgyver on the other hand. that man could turn a cosmic rusted transformer into an artificial sun.
Oh yeah, i remember that episode! "And then you took off your energy mask, and you were Cameron Diaz!"

i know! Right? i mean, transforming cities and transforming planets, they can deal with those, no problem, but show them some transforming capital ships, and they're all like, "I can't deal with that now!"

Dude, i am one-upped again. A preteen making "a transformable paper-and-brass-fastener model" of "a two-bot combiner TNG Enterprise" printed off the Internet on what i can only assume is an Aut-old-dot matrix of
Leadership Creation? GEEK. And i mean that as high complimentitude. (Although, i don't know that i would spend my
first time on the Internet looking for any sort of crossovers--there's so much canonical stuff, whether it's TF or Trek or Star Wars or whatever, that i still have to learn about, plus the fanworks thereof, without even getting into the crossovers.)
i used to try to make "Transformers" out of paper. Looking back, they were sad, pathetic things, and i'm ashamed of how proud i was of them. (The fact that i couldn't even figure out a
normal paper airplane probably should have tipped me off to the fact that my attempts were doomed to failure.) My LEGO TFs weren't much better, although sometimes i think i could do some pretty cool stuff now if i had enough of the right pieces.
i dunno, it's like my imagination exceeds my ability to physically render things to my satisfaction. Maybe that's why i'm so wordy: A picture may be worth a thousand words, but if i can't draw the picture well enough, i have to spell out the thousands of words, instead. Besides, with words i can point out the subtle details that may go unnoticed in a picture.
On a more Trek-specific note, i'm a better TransFan than i am a Trekkie. i like Trek, but my interest stems mainly from getting hooked on "Star Trek: Voyager". i've seen "First Contact" and miscellaneous episodes of the other Trek TV series, but i know more about Trek tech than i know about any of the non-Voyager characters. i'm really much more into Star Wars than Star Trek--probably in part because i just
know so much more about Star Wars.
i had an interesting thought looking at this thread: i'm kind of like my hero G1 Bumblebee, if we substitute "geekiness" for "combat-readiness". Think of it in Tech Specs terms--my "Courage" (my willingness to be seen and thought of as a geek) is high, but my "Strength" (knowledge of things geeky) and "Firepower" (collection of geek toys, DVDs, books, games, etc.) are below average. (Continuing with the Tech Spec metaphor but drifting away from the Bumblebee aspect) i might have high scores in "Speed" (how quickly i can remember the geeky things i know and/or find out the geeky things i don't know) and "Endurance" (how long it takes me to get tired of a geeky conversation) and "Skill" (what i can do with my geekiness).
Let's see, that leaves "Intelligence" and "Rank". Hmm. "Intelligence" kind of overlaps with what i had to say about "Strength" and "Skill", and maybe "Speed"... Well, i never said it was a
perfect metaphor, just one i found interesting.
"Rank", of course, is all about how you stack up against your fellows.
i wonder if my "Rank" is less like Bumblebee than Starscream. :-D
So! Is the thread derailed yet?
"Astrotrain! Transform and get us out of here! Skywarp: factor nine!"
