FYI, it's $30 cheaper on Walmart.com. A true testament to their buying power when they can sell CHEAPER than the manufacturer, lol!

I've just been buying the individual releases. The only disappointment so far is the exclusion of the 'con magnet.

Hmmm....wonder why the foot locker set (G.I. Joe) is $145 vs $109 for the matrix of leadership set. They retailed for the same price originally.

I've had all the Rhino DVD sets that came out years ago.
Do they have the same special features as the Rhino?

The Matrix of Leadership set includes some same and some different goodies than the Rhino set.

This box set includes all 98 restored episodes, as well as Autobot and Decepticon magnets printable scripts, a 60-page book and more, all packed nicely into a Matrix of Leadership box - details are below.

* Five retrospective featurettes including brand-new, in-depth interviews with those most responsible for the success of The Transformers franchise. Two of these featurettes are exclusive to this set including a conversation with comic writer Bob Budiansky and a voice cast reunion. The reunion features Jack Angel (Ramjet), Michael Bell (Prowl), Gregg Berger (Grimlock), Arthur Burghardt (Devastator), Corey Burton (Spike Witwicky), Richard Gautier (Rodimus Prime), Neil Ross (Slag), Frank Welker (Megatron).
* Two concept art galleries
* Archival Hasbro toy commercials.
* All 98 episodes of dialogue scripts. Three full scripts, with original handwritten notes, include "Transport To Oblivion", "Starscream;s Brigade" and "The Revenge of Bruticus".
* All 5 rare PSAs.
* From the files of Teletraan-2.
* A fan art gallery.
* An animated fan film entitled "Transformers: Generation One" featuring an optional audio commentary by the filmmakers.

My favorite is the voice cast reunion, it was worth getting just for that alone.

I have the complete G1 series with the Japanese /English conversion. The only bad thing is the menus are all in Japanese and they do not convert. I am thinking of buying this version. Wonder if Walmart still has them?

Your only hope for finding anything other than the Movie Trilogy is online. I was recently looking to pick up the DVD version of Masterforce, and Movie Trilo is the only one available at any big box retailer.

I could never find anything past Season 2 at Wal-Mart (Shout Factory) but I do recall seeing them there several months back. I have 2 complete sets of G1, myself, with Seasons 1-4 from Shout Factory still sealed. The 15 disc tin collectible set underneath is the one I usually watch. There's also the complete G1 Japanese Headmaster series inside that set too, which I purchased separately off iOffer. The G.I. Joe Footlocker set is from Shout Factory as well. Probably my fave of the bunch, dunno....just like G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero better than G1 Transformers (as a show).

I actually own/watch only the Rhino DVD Sets... I didn't realize how much stuff they changed/screwed up until I read about it. I guess since I never watched G1 outside the Generation 2 recuts I recorded on VHS, I didn't have much to compare to.

I'd like to get a more definitive version someday, but it's not a priority.

As for the Shout Factory Headmasters... Blackjack and I watched the TV-Nihon fan sub of Headmasters back in college, and I honestly liked that better. There was a lot less "lost in translation".

It's not like Hasbro's ports of the Energon cartoon, but there were things that were changed to fit into the current "branding" that I liked better left alone. For example, calling Fortress "Cerebros" and Battleship Maximus "Fortress Maximus" in the SF sub.

TV-Nihon also fan-subbed Masterforce, which Minerva and I recently watched. I considered snagging a SF dvd until we watched Headmasters... I think even more would be lost from Masterforce.

Also... Why is Huffer so much shorter than Brawn? :lol:

They're both part of the iGear Mini-Warriors line. Huffer was released before they upsized the line. He'll be sold off if he's ever redone to fit in scale with the rest of the minibots. :P
