What program is good for removing the background from pictures that are going to be submitted?

My photos are taken with a white backdrop, but since it looks more of a cream color in the photos I assume it still needs to be removed. But graphics software I use is GIMP. And the only way I can remove with backgrounds with it is by tracing along the edges of the transformers and cutting it out. That is a very time consuming process. So I'm wondering if there is a faster method available on other software.

Heres a sample of some of my photos:

Before the program, you could try changing the light you use. They must be of those "day light" type, otherwise it will render up an amber hue.

I use Photoshop, and that works quite well for me.

What Jose said.
To do graphics I use paint.net, it's free.
Use the magic wand, set to ~30% and select the white you want to get rid of.

I tried that paint.net. It doesn't seem to be any more accurate than GIMP. Between the clear plastic of the sealed packaging and the tan coloring of the Camo Ruination neither software can accurately distinguish the borders. Both leave some background and take some of the bot. It seems all the pictures I've taken to add the database will involve manual trimming.

The background seems to be too similar to the color of the figure/s to distinguish the border, so perhaps you could try what Jose suggested first? Another thing you could try is to brighten the pictures before you trim them. That might help a little.

Good luck!

Just go ahead and post what you have, we can remove the bkgd, or just use the pics as-is =)

Sure! At the bottom of this page, you will see a LIST OF NEEDED IMAGES:
http://www.transformerland.com/identify ... rmers.html

Perhaps I should put it in a place where it'd be more obvious?
