SP Back From Vacation!
Hello One and All!
Just wanted to let everyone know I was back in town and we had a AWESOME vacation! We helped move a friend of mine from where we live in the Panhandle of Texas to all the way down to a East Texas small town called Mauriceville. It's near Orange, Texas which is near Beaumont, Port Arthur, Galvaston and the Louisanna Border.
He accepted a Dean position at a local junior college there. It took us over 14 hours to get there, but we did stop about halfway and didn't drive straight through. The humidity was very bad, as you could just step outside and you were nearly soaking wet with sweat. I have some pics of places we visited:
1) Pics of the Victorian Style Stark House in Orange, Texas with the Carriage House that was used by the staff. They were remodeling it so it was closed to the public.
2) This house was called the J.O. Simms Hertiage House. We got to tour the inside. It was very cool to see all that history:
3) In Orange they also have hugh ship repair docks where they were working on a old battleship and tug boats:
4) These next set of pics are of our trip to Galvaston via the free car ferry and the beach at the Gulf of Mexico. We also visited the very coolest water park, Schlitterbahn's!
(Here's fat pics of me! I take awful pics!)(Pic of my son Brett and me)
(Pic of my lovely wife Denise and me)
***Pic of a ferry we rode on to cross the Galvaston Bay:
Various pics of the oil tankers out in the Gulf:
***Loved the tankers in the horizon!
***Here's a pic of the hotel on the pier on the Gulf. It looks the same as it did when I was there with the HS band 30 years ago! Whew! Am I that old???
**And finally here's pic of my family and I playing in the Gulf water! It was very warm and pleasant!
**Who's dunkin Who????
