Post by Octane »

Yes. I did. The little radar tower that goes behind his head--er, bridge. I'll try to photograph the box so you'll see what I'm talking about. If you already know what I'm talking about, then PLEASE sell me that piece. I will pay TOP DOLLAR for a replacement.

He's talking about this:

Sweet, sweet toy. Y'all should be able to see the part he lost on many of those pics... it's the crowny looking antenna array right behind/above the head/bridge.

I highly advise you to quadruple re-check anywhere it could even remotely possibly be, Octane. The odds of finding that part on the secondary market are slim to none. Your best bet is to probably going to be buying a beater SDF-1 with the part you need.

I'm going to the Hillsville, Virginia VFW flea market this weekend. I will look for you one.

They had a rare porcelain "PENNZOIL "Sound Your 'Z'" sign last year and a porcelain rounded Mobiloil pegasus shield that went on a Wayne visible pump from the 1920's.

If they had that they'll have an antenna array for you somewhere!!!

There is also an antique market in Fort Chiswell, VA called "Snoopers" that for sure has a Matchbox SDF-1 complete in the original box with insert for $500.00. It does have some yellowing though.

I bought a Jetfire from him from the same case that the SDF-1 is in that had a $400.00 price on it for $130.00 so I can probably get him down considerably because its been there for literally years. Since before the year 2000! Everything in that case is 50% off now too!

But........

I share TT's sentiments as well in that you find your antenna! *crosses fingers*

wait, wait....

That's the big SDF-1. I have the small one, which also has an sensor array, but it's WAY too big, which further lessens the odds that I will find the piece. I've pretty much taken everything out of my room, looked around, and put it back, and still didn't find it. *sigh* oh well. I guess I'm stuck paying for a replacement then selling the other one. Well, thanks anyway guys, and do keep an eye out for me. :]

I sincerely hope you find your bit.
I know what it feels like, missing that odd, tiny bit...

Only advice I can add to the other fellas': checked your vacuum-cleaner?

Ohhhh... well the little SDF-1 is MUCH cheaper! Like, 1/10th of the cost. And MUCH MUCH easier to find!

What scale *is* your SDF-1 in, then (there are many)? Any chance a model kit antenna array would work?
