sale list update notification thread.

rather than clog up the sale thread with update messages I feel we need a thread to be able to tell other members when we have updated our sale lists.

So if its Ok with the mods. Post a message about updating your sale list here so that other members will become aware of it.

Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I'm inclined not to agree.

Surely that means you when you look at the sales thread you then have to check this one to find out if the item you're interested in is still available.

I would have thought it was better for everyone if sellers update the sales thread when items have been sold, etc.

Maybe this should be stickied, then, too and have an Attention heading or something,

I think you're misunderstanding, Dead End.

I believe the point is that you STILL update the original thread as always when you sell things... but THIS thread would let people know that you've ADDED stuff to your previous posting. It would keep us from either:

A) Having to sift through a bunch of "I've updated my items" posts in the sale thread

or

B) Having to re-read everyone's sales posts every day, to see if they have something new.

Capiche?

Wheezel's right Dead end.

You still put on hold notices etc in your sale list. this is just to notify other members that you have updated your list so they don't have to check daily to see if someones updated there list.

I for one have just updated my sale list which is on the first page of the sale lists thread. Feel free to have a look and PM me if theres anything you are interested in.

Ahh, got you now! So I just check here to see if anyone's added anything then, yeah?

Sounds cool to me - I'm in! :D

I forget, can you guys remove an original post of your own after it's been replied to? i was planning on deleting my old post and making a new post at the end of the thread for an update.

As far as I know, TT, the best we can do is delete all the text. If there's a way to remove the post entirely, it's news to me.

You should be able to delete a post, just not a thread. A mod has to do that. It's the little "X" next to the "Edit" button.

You cannot delete your original post after another member has posted in the thread. The only exception is for Admins and Mods.

( I used to be an admin on phpbb2)

Catgut its wrong. Edit it your for sale list and post the above in it. Just post here that you have updated your for sale list.

The way I understand it is you update your post in the sale thread, then in here you just need to post 'Updated: For Sale List, Transformers.' Or whatever list it is you have updated. That way potential buyers know that you have updated and where to look.

I think its a good idea Des, bravo.
