kill a comrade to destroy an enemy?

after watching tf the movie'86 i remember hotrod costing optimus his life (and the fight) if that had have been the opposite, say prime holding soundwave i dare say the outcome would have been different and soundwave would be dead. what i ask would my fellow tf fans have done? if it was me soundwave or hotrod would be dead. isnt that right rodimus!?

I know all too well that you would kill a comrade or close friend to get to your mortal enemy. BUT, we all know that Megatron and Prime would never ever outright kill eachother in battle, they are like two sides of the same coin, they need eachother to exist.

wise words. also, it's a case of ends and means. i would certainly sacrifice myself if i knew it meant safety from that enemy to my friends.

but hot rod should not have been such an idiot.

I always agreed TT that Hot Rod was such an idiot.
Then he becomes the new Autobot leader!!?? WTF
Unfortunatly it was all down hill from there. Until Optimus came back.
Hot Rod got in the way and ended up having Optimus killed.
He then ends up with the matrix and leads the Autobots.
He made some good. But also b*tched and moanded about being a leader.

yes, he is then when the 'zombie' prime in the return of op showed up he couldn't wait to give him the bloody matrix back. talk about gratitude.

the way I see it, he was so keen to give it up is because Optimus Prime is the TRUE Autobot leader and no one will ever truly be able to lead them as well as he does. So why should Rodimus keep the matrix and leadership when the true leader is there.

That would be like Starscream or someone similar trying to be leader when Megatron was part of the group.

if he hadn't interfered in the first he wouldn't have the matrix in 1st place. besides all that starscream is always trying to replace me as leader any way.
