Ok call me stupid but this is all new to me.
I went to Slag's link and I read this message:
To download get the BitTorrent client here and a .torrent file from any of the torrent sites listed above ("Download Torrent" button/link)
Using BitTorrent is legal, downloading copyrighted material isn’t. Be careful of what you download or face the consequences.
So how do I know what's copyrighted or not?

Demonoid update for y'all.
As of November 09, 2007, the website was shut down with a placeholder page stating:
"The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding."
According to the Demonoid IRC channel, the tracker is still working, and they expect the site to be back up soon:
[+mntrSCTf] Welcome to #Demonoid | Site is down, tracker is intermittent (sometimes up, sometimes down), No Current ETA is known. That is all we know...DON'T ASK | Alternate forums at www.demonoiders.com. Expect the site to return, unless we hear otherwise from Deimos.

most things you d/l such as music, video, movies, TV shows etc are illegal to d/l unless they are provided free on the makers own space. simply copyright law. Just the same as you can't buy a dvd for personal use then use it to play publicly.
D/ling comics would also be illegal because you have not paid of the service, Marvel are trying to counter illegal d/ls by introducing a digital comic service. you do have to pay, but you have access to a large library of back issues.
