Good Lord! Now that's taking education to a different level! Thank you for posting that!

It was difficult for the nightsoil men of the medieval age right through to the 1800's.

In the high middle ages 1250 or so nightsoil men were not allowed to work during the day and could only work during the wee hours of the night under a rigid space of time. Usually four hours at the time until the next evening.

Even though their job was essential to the upkeep of orderly life in a high middle ages (and upwards) castle they were looked down upon by the general population as being in a worse class than the peasantry even though they were free tradesmen.

If nightsoil men were caught working off hours in their trade they faced punishments such as large fines and sometimes they were incarcerated or beaten for disobedience of the law. In the Elizabethan era the Queen passed even more rigid regulations upon the tradesmen and her laws actually set the development of sanitation systems back 200 years which is a considerable stain (forgive the pun) on her otherwise forward thinking progressive government.

I know what I am getting for my sisters kids for Christmas this year at least.

I just have to tell you guys this, it was soooooo funny.

I went to a farm because they had a cow that was struggling to give birth, upon arrival I injected the cow with a rather large ammount of painkillers so that it would move while we got the calf out of it,

We tied a rope to each of the calfs front legs and with the help of the farmer and one of his workers I began the very slow task of helping the calf out.

I was laying just to one side of the cow to aid the opening and guide the calf out and the two men were directly behind it, pulling on the ropes woth all of their might. As I felt inside the cow I discovered that the calf has large huggins ( The top of the calfs back legs ) and small legs.

The cow pushed just as the men pulled and the calf was born suddenly, sending two men, complete with ropes and calf staggering backwards landing one on top of the other with the calf on top ......

The cow then got up and licked the calf, then the two men.

I just could not resist it ................ I really could not.... So I said .........................................................

You can stop pulling now ..............

I never knew that!!

Talking of coes you have just reminded me of a story..

When I was younger my dads friend lived out in the country. His back garden backed onto a farmers field full of cows. Anyway, it was a summers night and we were all out the back playing football/soccer and the cows were standing eating the grass beside the hedge. They jumped the hedge and joined in... No seriously, they were eating the grass and looking over tyhe hedge as they did so. We played on and never paid them any attention.

My brother Matthew (aka Hotrod) scored a goal and cheered. One of the cows lifted it shead over the hedge and moo'ed at him. He screamed and run like hell inside the house. I follwed him in, tears blinding me with laughter and he said to the adults inside..

"Mummy, mummy, I scored a goal and cheered, then the cow shouted at me!!"

Well that was it then, the whole roam collapsed into laughter. The cow came in and apologised for scaring the young 'un then put the kettle on.

There are a lot of people who are terrified of cows.
The thing is that they are more scared of you than you are of them.

There are only two reasons that will make a cow attack a human

1 - If it has a calf and you get between them
2 - If you attack the cow first

The thing with bulls charging at red things is a total myth as bovines are colour blind.

I knew they were color blind, but why do they have the reputation for charging?

The reputation probably comes from the bullfighting.

If you watch the bullfighting when they wave the red rag it is the noise coming from the human and the violent motion of the rag that makes them charge.

However, it is very rare that your average farm bull will charge at you.

UNLESS, you wind it up enough

A lot of farmers have been killed by bulls, so they have a bad reputation.

They are only the same as a female cow, you can handle them.

But you NEVER turn your back on a bull and you certainly do NOT trust them.

I forgot all about this until this morning...

Last Saturday myself and my Destructicon son were watching the animated cartoon movie. Prime and myself were fighting and Carter was in awe of Prime turning into the truck. :x :x

Anyway, when Prime was dying Carter said

"What is happening to him?"

I said "He is dying."

So Prime dies and Carter's little eyes fill with tears. He comes over and I said that it was ok he will return and they make him better. He hugs me and settles down a bit.

(WTF!!! Crying over Optimus Prime!!!!! :x  :x )

It cuts to the shuttle and Starscream and the rest had thrown everyone out. He never said a word. Starscream goes to the door with me and Carter says.

"What is he throwing him out for, he is still alive?"

Total redemption for the loss of tears over Optimus Prime. :D

I said "Thats right son, he is still alive. Do you wanna go to the shop for sweets!!!"

In the comic, you have more lives than a cat

Two of the best episodes were set after the movie

1 - Dark Awakening which gave me nightmares about zombie robots

2 - The return Of Optimus Prime which gave me nightmares about infected rats
