Galvatron's "REAL" Lair

Post by Galvatron »

Well, I have'nt been online much lately and this is the reason why.
I have been building. I "had" a very large family room and I basically split it in half.
I built my daughter a bedroom and also me a computer room. Or my "Lair".
The structure of my house was not perfect. I wanted to give my daughter a window for her room, so i had to build a wall between 2 windows. Then I had to build around the ceiling fan because I didn't want to move it LOL. So there is a total of 5 walls that zig zag across half of the house.

Image
This is the first wall, between the windows.

This pic explains more about how i had to zig zag
Image
this is after all the walls were framed up. Now I have a hallway in my house!!
Image
This is my daughter's room after all the drywall was hung up.

my "lair"

hanging the rock in the hallway

damn this was a lot of work
Image
After spending 2 1/2 days of applying mud to the drywall, i am nearly finished.
I have a friend coming over to install some electrical work for me. {so I don't shock myself trying} The kids room and the hallway are complete and ready for paint.

Anybody who knows how to hang drywall would know that I should have used full sized sheets.
It would make it a hell of a lot easier.
But the drywall that I got was from where I work and it was all scrap that was going to be thrown away.
So I got it all for free!! A little extra work to save a ton of money!!
I will post more pics as things progress more.
I'm not bragging or anything.
I just felt like sharing with all of you what I've been doing lately and why i haven't been online much.

Great work,it really looks like a "lair" :D
Far over the Misty Mountains cold, To dungeons deep and caverns old. The pines were roaring on the height, The winds were moaning in the night, The fire was red, it flaming spread, The trees like torches blazed with light.

Explains why you were throwing rubble at me....

It's looking good Galvatron, you have put alot of hard work into that. I don't think I would every try to do that.

Yes, please show us the completed project, but this time keep the hand lotion and tp off of your computer desk, while it is in frame.

Seriously, it only has to be gone for a couple of seconds. :P

It looks like a very nice little hidey hole you have there, Galvatron! Extremely nicely done! My joints never looked that good!

I think every man needs a little place to call their own where they can escape the wife, kids and the little stresses of life.

I am going to dispos...... I mean make a nice little man cave for my husband in a culvert off highway 52.

Its dark............... and well hidden.

Sounds cozy. You know, SOME men (not me of course) might say anyplace away from the wife/gf is the greatest place in the world, even if it is a culvert.

Oh man, I'm gonna catch hell for that!

Get this... a guy from my work is re-doing all the doors in his house!!!
So that means I get 2 used doors for FREE!!!!!
I got one of them hung up for my daughter's room.
We just finished painting everything. All is just about done. I need 64 feet of molding to go around the top of all the walls i built!! :arg:

Image
After my electrician friend came over, we ran some wire under the house and installed 2 outlets in my computer room and 1 outlet in my daughters' room. Then I was able to FINALLY finish placing the final piece of DRYWALL and then mud the seams. Then I went to Lowes, and got the same kind of paint that i have throughout the rest of the house.

Image
The finished hallway, see the door....

Image
It's a PINK nightmare!!!!!!

Image
I let my daughter put a handprint on the wall. After it dries, I'm going to date it :luv:
