'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the Ark,
Not a mini-con was stirring, the screens were all dark;
The Proton-boots were hung by the exhaust ports with care,
In hopes that St. Optimus would soon be there;
The 'bots were all nestled in their CR tanks,
With visions of Cybertron in their memory banks;
Minerva beside me and Steeljaw in my lap,
We had just settled in for an Earth winter's nap.
When in the volcano I heard such a clatter,
I sprang from the chamber to see what was the matter!
Away to the airlock I drove like a flash,
Tore open the doors and looked around for a Decepticon crash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the luster of infrared to objects below,
When to my wond'ring optics should appear,
But a miniature truck with a 52 foot box trailer,
With a little red cabover, driving to make good time,
I knew in a moment it must be Op Prime!
More rapid than Seekers his engines they came,
Some deer jumped before him, on his horn he was laying.
As scrap metal before a Junkion storm fly,
When he met with an obstacle he'd ramp to the sky.
So up to the Ark's top Optimus flew,
With a trailer full of toys, and Energon too.
And then, in a twinkling I heard from up higher,
The screeching and halting of each Desert Dog tire.
As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,
Down through the turbolift Prime came with a bound.
He was red, blue, and chrome from his head to is toe,
And his paint was all tarnished with mud and with snow.
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes -- How they glowed! His antennae, how pointy!
His chest was all glass, his elbows, quite jointy!
His unseen mouth was covered with plate,
His Autobot symbol was shined to look great.
On his shoulders were mounted tall exhaust pipes,
Where their smoke had stained, it left thick black stripes.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the Proton boots; then turned with a jerk,
And laying a finger on the panel of the lift,
It started up and his form started to shift.
He hitched to his trailer, and switched on his lights,
And then drove away, deep into the night.
But I heard him exclaim 'ere he rolled-out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"
