My wife and I have been looking at houses since last year, but couldn't buy then because I was in my senior year of college. We thought it would be healthy to get an idea of what we liked, and could jump on an opportunity when I could finance the house.

Well we had a bit with building a house, but the builder wanted to change too much stuff on the house so we went back to buying. Two of the houses we looked at last year that we LOVED were still for sale i.e. signs in the yard and locks on the door knobs. Come to find out they finally got approved and are going to settlement. Two 2,500 square foot houses for under $240,000 (thats a steal in my part of Maryland).

We're waiting and hoping that settlement falls through on one of them...and were looking at another one tonight in the same neighborhood. They want 300k for that one, but I'm gonna throw them the low ball and offer 250k and see if they bite. Worst they can do is say no and I can buy another G1 figure

Back to being upset...damnit all to hell! The deals are getting harder to find and interest is creeping back up.

Astrotrain: my mother works as a real estate agent, and now IS the time to buy, but it's getting to the point where people don't even bother to put stuff on the market. The other thing is, anyone WITH money is starting to buy again, so the really good deals are harder to come by, but the market overall hasn't risen out of the dumps yet... Hey, I got an idea. We'll sell you our house! My parents would move if we could get rid of it

It is the time to buy. I just bought a 1700 sq ft 4 bedroom house for $80k. Now thats a steal. The old couple wanted out of it. Houses here in oklahoma can be a crap shoot sometimes. Just gotta be there when it happens. Good luck astrotrain!

damn. wish i could get some spacious property. a nice two-bedroom apartment that is right across the street from where i live is at a bargain price of $3.5 million. now it may not look like a bargain in and of itself, but when the price was $5.3 million last year, it's a bargain!

unfortunately i don't have several million to spare.

unrelated, i went to a party last night that had a full open bar, compliments of dos equis beer.

today i am completely incapacitated and feel miserable. i might have to fire up some g1 eps and just sit still for a few hours

Anyways on the subject of houses in Oklahoma, my old roommate and his mom have had two of their properties on the market for almost a year now and still haven't had a single offer!

Sorta makes me glad I only rent... They've gone bankrupt in the process of trying to sell them.

making money off real estate is all about timing.... and alot of luck.
