Sky Lynx Fixer Upper

Post by Dinobot »

Dont remember if this is where to post this, but I am trying to figure out how to make my sjy lynx walk again. I dont see any bad terminals, and fresh batteries dont even make a sound. Any suggestions?

Far over the Misty Mountains cold, To dungeons deep and caverns old. The pines were roaring on the height, The winds were moaning in the night, The fire was red, it flaming spread, The trees like torches blazed with light.

How about sell the old one then buy the reissue? (as a last resort of course.)

I have tried the technical tap. I may buy an old lynx part off ebay and try and swap guts. I cant bin it cause I still have the original box and instructions.

By the way, I'm not sure if you tried this, but I have a lot of experience 'reviving' dead Sky Lynx's. The vast majority of the time, the problem is the terminals of the on/off switch. It's a bitch to get to, but if you can get to it, the switch is crimped on to a soft brown board. Pry the crimped tabs open and you'll be able to see the terminals on the other side of the brown board. Just give em a good sanding for about 15 seconds, then put the batteries in, and short the terminals with something metal to see if the motor starts running again. Oh, make sure to remove the motor from its housing before trying that, otherwise gears will go flying all over the place :)

BTW, this also works on Omega and Trypticon. Sky Lynx is the easiest of the 3 :)

Well, if you get a chance, give it a try and let me know the results! All you need is a screwdriver and some sandpaper :)

Well,i tried to repair Omega Supreme as Trance said.
The good news:he is functional once more.I even glued the broken drums that make him walk.
The bad news:I got burned by a 1.5 volt battery in the process :!:  (of course this has nothing to do with Trance  )

I did such things with batteries, lamps etc as a kid too but this is the first time that such a thing has happened! My finger got burnt!I was trying to test the light of Omega with the battery and a wire in order to bypass the switch.A spark burned my finger and a part of the 1.5V battery :!:

EDITED:Repaired Shockwave too.His switch is a real nightmare. Thanks for the tip Trance. :D
