Anyone can briefly explain the bio of Ultra Magnus to me?

Post by megaprime »

Hi, Transformers fans, I am just wondering how does Ultra Magnus become a major character in G1 Transformers.
Well, I did watch the G1 cartoon on TV and Transformers the Movie, and I just cannot figure out where is Ultra Magnus from and how does he become a major character. In the movie, he is passed the matrix to be the new leader. Obviously, Ultra Magnus is not from the same old generation as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Ironhide.
Please help me out.
Thanks in advance.

transformers the movie went underway almost as soon as the cartoon did, as it takes a longer time to organize a movie; etc. thus, these characters had not been introduced into the story when the movie writing began, and they never did introduce them previous to the movie. this is why the movie characters come out of nowhere in the cartoon series, as well as why none of the season two characters are in the movie, like the gestalts other than devastator, or others like red alert, grapple, etc.

in the comic book series, the movie continuity never happened, and some of the movie characters were introduced through the "back on cybertron" story arc that led to the headmasters. Magnus, however, never existed in the u.s. comic cosmology. after only the UK comic was surviving, magnus's storyline joined up as he and the movie chars were transported to here and now from an alternate reality, where the move did happen.

I also heard some rumor that says there is some special connection between Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime, like they are brothers or something like that. Well, the toys of these two are definitely similar, and we all can tell the connection from the toys. Hahaha.
Thanks for your explanation.

actually, i beleive the story was something about magnus being prime's favourite soldier because he is so staunch. however, i do not believe, or have any reason to believe the are brothers. perhaps they were friends on cybertron before optimus was promoted. did you know, before op was the matrix bearer, he was a librarian/archivist?

Yep!

Yep, I do know that. I still remember one particular episode explaining that Optimus Prime was a yound lad and killed by Megatron, then repaired and rebuilt by the old guy (What's the name? I have forgot) to be the leader of Autobots to fight against evil Decepticons.

Hahahahaha, sorry about it, man.
Consequently, here's another question: is there any cartoon episode, comic book, or document that tells us what Alpha can transform into? Any idea?
Everyone is talking about Arcee because the toy hasn't got produced. I would say Alpha should have been designed and produced first, I mean before all the G1 Transformers, because Alpha is alpha, the name already represents his special status: the very first Transformer, right?

A-3, Alpha Trion aaah yes I have been wondering what the heck he is.
He should have been made into a toy first being the Alpha and he should have been a triple changer being the Trion.

Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus are known as brothers in the short lived "Robots In Disquise" series. But were never called brothers in the G1 series.

Alpha is a Transformer himself.

Post by megaprime »

Yeah... ... It's a hard question. I think Alpha shouldn't transform into a vehicle or aircraft, since that would be too ordinary. How about transform into a Super computer? We got Transformers who can transform into walkman (Soundwave), cassettes (Ravage, Laserbeak, Rumble, etc.) microscope (Perceptor), and radio (Blaster), and they are all common stuff people are using everyday. Alpha is a wise man, so he should transform into something that can present or symbolize wisdom. A powerful computer could be the one.
He is a Transformer after all, so he is supposed to transform!

personally, i am quite satisfied with the mystery of what it could be. i'm sure he transforms, but i think that leaving it at that would best suit the story.

Blasphemer isn't a computer term, it's a religious one.

It once meant to say or do something against the word of God.
For example, saying the earth revolved around the sun was once considered blasphemous.

Now, it just means to say something that is clearly wrong and untrue, but with a hint of slander. It's akin to saying, "how dare you!"
So, in Transformers, Les Claypool is God?

Still about Ultra Magnus!!!

Post by megaprime »

I know, I know, it's a very very old thread. Someone told me that Ultra Magnus is killed by Sixshot in the comic storyline (or the cartoon storyline? I'm not sure about it at this particular moment, gosh!) the other day, and I'm just curious to know what exactly happens on Ultra Magnus at the end. Guys, help me out please.
