Orion Pax - Optimus Prime

why optimus didn't change to orion pax when he not uses matrix?
likes a rodimus changes into hot rod.. i'm confused.

In the toon Orion pax is rebuilt into optimus prime. [in war dawn] hence the reason why he doesn't change back.

In the comic continuity, Prime carried the Matrix all the way until they crashed here on Earth. Then Teletraan-1 remade Prime into his new form with the Matrix inside him. He couldn't go back to his Original form because his whole structure had changed. When his old body was blasted into space after he was destroyed in a battle with Megatron in a computer game he still had the Matrix inside him.
The powermaster body was made on Nebulos and Prime's mind was downloaded into it from a disc. Basically, not to complicate it anymore Prime original was never without the Matrix. The Powermaster body didn't reformat when Prime plunged it into Unicron because he was able to carry it anyway and already had an affinity with it.
