After helping my dino-friend Snarl with the Graphic novels it made me think a bit more about this topic then I remembered this. Now I am not saying this is the be all and end all but, it does help to explain it and its is believeable.

In the US/UK comic after Grimlock revives them all with Nucleon they are fine, big battle with Unicron and its all over for the US story after End Odf the Road. In the UK story Snarl contracts a disease known as Corrodia Gravis, a rusting disease and Snarl is dying. He needs a systems boost from Starscream, which he gets but a few monts later the disease returns and Snal is critical.

The Dinobots travel to the savage lands looking for a crystal that can save Snarl on the shuttle that brought them here. They don't take it and Snarl's brain is transferred into the body of a Stegosaurus. (He hated his dinosaur form, bit of a living hell this me thinks.) He was put under that care of a professor who was using the crystal to stop the Dinosaurs dying. The Dinobots left him until a new body was constructed for him.

Is it not possible that the story which was written in the 1992 was written with the absence of Snarl in the movie in mand? As a way to explain away the fact he wasn't there. I am taking into account his brief appearance, but lets face it Starscream, Thundercracker and Skywarp fought against Unicron it was human error he was there.
