His sister will kill him if she catches him. :lol:
got mad at it and out came the 9 inch angle grinder
Listen Derrick, I keep telling you not to use that thing, especially when you are on your own. It is supposed to be used for cutting inch thick steel, not rusty old bolts that go flying when you get through them.

Of course, you used eye goggles, gloves and proper workwear did you not ?

yes i got a bit carried away with the grinder that day and the sparks ignited my pants
the problem is that these people who decide whats safe to do and whats not safe to do have absolutely no experience of the job

this is a good example
using a grinder
health and safety law says that you should wear a full face mask workboots with steel toecaps thick gloves and a full protective suit

in the real world
a full face mask steams up with your breath so you cant see what youre doing
the gloves are that dam thick that you cant grip the grinder properly so if it jumps back it hits you
what good does a material suit do when its a metal cutting disc going at 2600 rpm

Dirge I may have a solution to your face mask breathing fog thing. Gas mask. I work in a place that has thousands of them. I wore one to cut some 2x4's on a table saw. I didn't use a gas canister but didn't get any saw dust on me or in me for that matter. Plus side, was that the mask directs EVERY inhaled breath, from the left side or the mask, to the lens first then to your nose cup. Keeps the inside fog free. Then the exhale is dispensed in a different location, bottom of the mask. Now I was using an M40 mask but the MCU-2P/MCU-2PA mask has one big lens instead of two eye lenses. The mask also has a polycarbonate shell that goes over the mask lens piece to protect it from gross liquid Chemical attacks. I'm sure it could stop some metal debris, yes I have also used grinders. But you could still wear a face shield if you wanted, the mask does not add that much bulk to the top of your head.
The gloves thing and your pants on fire thing is all on you unfortunately.
I was about to link you to different photos but the link gets a bunch of them. Just think it's useful around the shop and if ever you are attacked with a nerve, blister, blood, or choking agent you are prepared.
