Fortress Maximus

Post by Custodius »

Me and my wife recently bought out a lot of toys at an estate sale. It included Transformers, GI-Joe, He-man, Silver Hawks, TMNT and other mid-late 80s toys.

One of them appears to be a mostly complete Fortress Maximus Transformer. It appears to be missing the head-master bot that comes with it, but it seems to have his guns and other smaller pieces.

I see a lot of widely varying prices on things like Ebay or whatnot, but what would a headless Fortress Maximus with all his bits and pieces go for?

I understand this is a pretty subjective question without pictures, and I'll try to get some online soon. I appreciate any info you can offer.

First off, let me welcome you to the boards. As far as the Fort Max goes, you hit the nail on the head with the pictures thing. I have however seen bodies alone going into the $100 plus range. But, without pics on condition, and parts available, im not much help.

Thanks for the welcome.

As it happens, I found the head-master. I'm very happy with the way its coming out. Right now, it looks like he's 95-99 percent complete.

Very cool indeed. Since he's hard to find complete or mostly, If you're into collecting, I would keep it. Chances are later on it may go for more as they get harder to find.

TopSpin
Huffer - G1 minicar
Sludge - Me not grimlock. Me suck rocks.
Red alert – G1 Autobot car
Bumblebee - G1 Minicar
Bumblebee-Goldbug
Megatron – Gun with all the pieces of the scope and buttstock/stand
Nosecone
Light Speed
Afterburner
Airraid
Silverbolt
Skydive
Slingshot
Wild Rider
MotorMaster
Dead End
Dreadwing+Hi-Test
Darkwing+Throttle
Getaway+Rev
Hot Rod - Roof popped off, central post snapped.
A bunch of predicons - I think the whole set. they are ugly and confusing so I've not paid them much attention.
Jazz - Busted up, missing doors, front window and roof sections.
Octane
Scamper
Fortress Maximus+Cerbros+Spike+Grommet+Cog - broken radar dish, missing left-side ramp. Otherwise... complete.
Shockwave – Functional
Shockwave – Nonfunctional
Shockwave – Grey?

Componants:
Trailer - Ultra Magnus
Trailer - Optimus Prime - beat to hell and back. Sides and doors are off the trailer. Purple Roller.
Trailer - Rodimus Prime
A crapton of bits.

A lot more bots I have not yet identified.

To know others you must know yourself first!

The bigger they are the bigger thud they make when they fall!!!

Wow, thats a great hall for an estate sale. I've only been to one garage sale or estate sale that had any significant number of transformers and at that one they were almost entirely recent lines or reissues.

These images are large. I don't have photoshop on this laptop, so I can't cut them down very well, and if nothing else, he's a big boy. You will have to link click to see them as I would not dream of spamming the forum here with huge images.

Max in all his glory. I promise he has his clothes on.

On the right side. You can see the decals and arm doors.

Right arm, weapons doors open and closer in for detail.

Max with his front doors open, detail of his shoulders and face.

Max's back, showing the lack of one of the snap-on shoulder pieces.

Max's left side feet, showing his... uh... jail?

Max: he's sort of like your big dumb slow friend. You dont' want to piss him off, cause he's only gotta hit you -once-.

If anyone can offer commentary on quality, or if he seems to be missing any parts beyond the left-side ramp-shoulder-snap on, I'd appreciate what you have to offer.

He looks pretty good in my opinion. I'm not too familiar with Fort Max, but it looks like there's a broken tab stuck in his chest (probably from the radar scope).

@Minvera: Yes. The radar scope looks to have been snapped off. The only other damage is the right side shoulder box, the door's pin has snapped. Friction holds it in place, but it is broken.

Other than that and the missing bit of track-launcher that goes on the left side shoulder, he's entirely complete and operational. No yellowing either.
