any ideas how far Marks planing to take the book upto (which lines will it be only g1 or will there be any g2, machine wars and so on ?)

I ave seen a " Hotrod " and a " Grapple " on E-Bay with the plastic mouse s**t insers rather than the card and bubble. Personally, I dont see what difference it makes with regards to what the toy is packaged on, but then again, I am new to this world

I'm not sure about those particular guys in a plastic tray (and somebody please correct me if my assumptions are way off base), but I've always been under the assumption that anything pre-Pretender series g1's packed in those are either some sort of re-release and/or Takara "for the Chinese/Korean market" pseudo re-release produced in the 90's. But most of those are in standard bubbles, so I can't say for sure without seeing the box.

As for why packaging matters? Well, essentially, for they toy, it often doesn't. However, from a display perspective, I've always found styrofoam inserts to be preferable. It's easier to remove the figures from the box and they usually sit/store/move much more securely in the styrofoam.

Also, bubbles often sag, and require some sort of non-original tape/glue to keep them upright when displaying in the box.

And in this case, there's also the rarity issue.

i got to say i agree with wheezel on the box front , for a box collector there exclent but (and display boxed) but if your more into the loose side of things (i prefer losse or at least open as i hate opening the boxs, brakeing the seal sort of thing) its more money for no diffrents (ok i know some came in diffrent colours like the red tracks, but you can buy them loose which will be a lot cheaper than buying with a box espialy with the stryo inners )

Regarding the MB boxed transformers...

I am from europe, they are rare.. Once in a while a MB comes arround and they always fetch huge ammounts of money. Same applies to the gig transformers, mostly found in italy offcourse.

The red tracks and mirage are possibly the best known, but not all MB releases came with a styro. The MB issues werent limited to the autobot cars only (also shockwave, jetfire, red feet prime etc).

The only MB transformer I own is a red feet optimus which costed me quite a huge ammount of money! Stil glad I bought it though.

Greatshot, thanks for the link. I always thought the red Tracks was a Diaclone leftover with TF labels. Another one to look for...
