I thought that a leader / commander was supposed to put the well being of his soldiers first, obviously not in the Commanders case though.

Ugh, thanks for reminding me. First, I heard about Classics Bruticus, and I was like "Joy, a 15th recolor to add to my collection.
". Then I heard ALL new mold! and I'm all like, yesssss! Then I saw that monstrosity (properly transformed even). Now, I'm passing it up unless the individual modes are collectively above average, however, Starscream will be under STRICT orders to NEVER yell "Combaticons... " well, anything. Because I just can't trust that sniveling little bastich.

Also, yes I did hand over command to Starscream. Only to "help" him out of the ground when as Dirge said;
menasor appeared and punched bruticus in to the ground
along with Starscream.
I told that fool..
