Oh Kotobukiyas. I've contemplated the genosaurer from that set. hows the quality etc of them?

well, I only have the Desert Liger and Command Wolf. However, they are awesome. Putting them together is a real challenge. Quality's okay, I guess, but they are NOT toys. Some of the parts break VERY easily.

I'm currently working on a repaint job on an old Spineback (Gator)

The plan is to custom paint him in that funky paint which changes colour depending on which angle you look at it from; as such photos may not do it justice, but I'll take some anyway.

Ideas for custom decals most welcome...

They're doing faction symbols but not full reprints of specific zoids. I may have to improvise those.

The undercoating is done, I'm now waiting for kid brother to get the airbrush out again to do the twin colour top layers.

The symbols or the paints?

The symbols are on reprolabels.com, go to the homepage and Zoids are on the list on the right.

The paints I'm not sure about. My brother has them for his radio controlled cars, I thought they'd be fun to use on a Zoid. Having a spare spineback, he gets to be my test piece. Not sure where they come from, I'll ask him.

I'm still debating how to do the pilot; leave him silver, make him match the rest of the Zoid or do him in detail so he looks like a real person.

Ah, the Zoids themselves.

Various online stores have them, if you don't want an '80s original they can be very reasonable. As an alternative, there's the usual ebay type sources, or you can take a trip to Asia where they're still available in toy shops.

Where do you live?

If in the USA, I think there are some really good places with a good selection.

In the UK, it's more limited although access to the Official European Release ('80s) Zoids is easier.

I gotta stop watching these, they make me want Zoids and there's no room for them!!! When I saw Death Saurer, I imagined 1000's of screaming Japanese... Wardick swims! Awesome!!!! They're all cool, even Spinefin. Do the big ones have wind-up motors too? That's gotta be a helluva motor to move those big guys around.

Was there two different factions to the Zoids? Or was there a third party? Like a Qintesson to the two transformers factions.

The larger ones commonly have electric motors. The smaller figures have wind up motors.

Depends on which series you refer to:

Original european release : two factions red and blue

Japanese original release - you have the Helic Republic, Zenebas Empire, Guylos Empire and the Neo-Zenebas Empire

The guylos empire and the helic replublie were ressurected for the US and UK markets when the chaotic centry and Guardian force anime was dubbed into english.

Later US/UK series didn't have any descernable factions {But the figures still came with guylos or helic transfers.}.

The japanese only Genesis series Introduced the digald empire. Againt them was the supression army.

So in tune with tf lore that the comic was gospel is there an "era" or line that was the true line? Did that make sense?
