Dear all,

This is an interesting question which we held on other forum I participate - not TF related. The most diverse responses were generated: From wives who loathe the guy's toys, and can't wait for putting them all for sale anywhere, to those who have an eye the most expertised collector would want and they come up with some of the most amazing finds. It has to be said that, in the earlier experience, those who responded were mostly male (die cast cars). However, here we have an important participation of females as well, so I guess the replies may be very different! So, how does that important person in your life - wife/husband, girl/boy friend, lover, mistress, whatever, pun intended here - take this "little" passion of yours?

For myself, I can say I'm tolerated. My girlfriend think it's OK as long I'm organized. However, she doesn't like when I lose hours of sleep, don't eat or arrive late to any commitment because of collecting. However, I have had no problem with justifying expenses, as she loves books and certain jewelry so she also has expensive taste (a double edge weapon).

We don't live together, but just yesterday she said "You have to many toys!" After correcting her (they're collectibles), she picked up her favorite (a Go-Bot) and started playing with it. She says as long as I can afford them, go for it. There are worse things I could be spending my money on.

my Beautiful girlfriend loves Tfs almost as much as me, she doesnt collect but she did threaten to kill me if i took any out of their boxes, she has also bought me some. she doesnt care as long as im budgeting my coin and not spending more than i can afford... oh oh im in trouble then... yes i would like to put that on my credit card. he he he

She likes them but she shouts because she says i can't afford them
Every time i buy a new one she says:"What?Another one?Don't you have enough already?"

She is very understanding and supportive of my inner child as she has one just as big. It's the same as CJ though, all in good moderation. I just simply can't afford to go nuts and buy everything.

But she has given me many great additions, as you all know just this past Christmas she got the the Matrix of Leadership statue/Collectable.

I am sure you are all well aware of the feelings of the flesh creature I am with!!! lol!!

mine doesnt like them becasue she says i go overboard on the buying of the tfs and shes right i do tend to go overboard, she started this because she spoiled me with the buying of the toys to begin with, shes great though she still buys them for me when i ask

My wife is a collector, too. I joke that we live in a stable, 'cause I'm surrounded by My Little Ponies.

Since I don't have a 'other half' there's no one to critisize my collecting. My family, on the other hand, just rolls their eyes at me whenever I get something new for my collection. Even so, they often help me find all kinds of stuff from flea markets and such
I guess they're happy to help since we're all collectors (more or less).

Haha! Noone to complain at me either! My family proves rather supportive, because they're all a) collectors of way more stuff than i have and b) realized long ago how freakin' COOL transformers are.

Mrs. G don't complain. As long as I give her money, pay all the bills, buy all the groceries, buy whatever the mini-cons need, put gas in her van, and make sure everybody is happy, I can buy a Transformer

My g/f says that they are really cool and that my friends and I are unique to other people. We collect lots of 80's memerobilia and she thinks its awesome. Nothing like a supportive woman telling me to keep going

Right there with you on that. Not only on TFs/action figures, but I also get the stale "comic books are for kids" lecture frequently.

No complaints from my beloved other half, She actually looks for stuff and usually rings me up on the work-phone to ask / report new arivals in the store and if it would be right to pick some up if i wanted them before they sold out,

My Gf collects stuffed tigers and those can get nasty expensive too, so i'm always on the look to get her something tiger related,

her room is cluttered with stuffed tigers and posters but well organised , and mine is cluttered with TF's Nintendo stuff, lego's (thx a lot TT) and custom projects including many car parts swerving arround, just throw in an arcade cab for the competetive coffee break (wich my buddies do enjoy, )

So after all we seem OK with it but I tempered my buying rage and started setting goals on what I wanted, still saving some$ aside for when we move out

Mt gf is a bit odd, in that she'll question my need for so many toys, but then show up with something cool for me (like a Japanese Optimus Prime). Go figure.

Whenever my mother is around, though, she's got 100 questions about why I have so many and why don't I spend my money on something else.

My girlfriend thinks I have already went overboard. I have about 2 dozen transformers now that my collection is just getting started. But after I started purchasing them and putting them out the first thing she says is, "Don't they have woman transformers? I want one." So Arcee, Elita-One, and Thunderblast (I think) are purchased.

She definitely thinks there are too many, but when I was putting them on display she can't help but to put them on display how she would like to see them. She has me move them around. Pose them and face them in the direction she wants to see them. She has fun helping me display them.

So I think over time this could be a good hobby for the two of us! She is even talking about getting me a gift card on Valentines Day for a toy store to pick up more, LOL.

My GF went with me to a flea market and a toy store yesterday, helping me dig through tubs of action figures all day. While I was standing at the register talking to the owner with an armload of toys, she let slip that she has spent about $5000 on scrapbooking!

Later at home, I was telling her how a Piranacon's wife bought him a Fort Max, and I showed her how big it was (Fort Max, that is), she thought that was just awesome. So the seeds have been planted..........
