KO Combiners

Hi all,

I have been looking at getting a combiner or two (or 6). I want to get a complete set of any particular combiner but, I can't afford the prices on a full set. Most of the sets I have seen are $100 plus dollars. That price is unfortunately out of my price range.

I like the look of the G1 figures the most. I am considering purchasing knock offs instead. Since I am not looking to play with them (too much!) and am just planning on displaying them does anyone think that they are worth purchasing at signifigantly lower costs?

Or is it just a waste of money on purchasing these knock offs? Thanks to all who give me some feedback!

I had a KO Devastator, the quality and feel of it was horrible but it only cost a few £ so it was alright for a stop-gap. In the combined form it didn't look too bad aside from the off green colour, but I had to avoid touching it as it was so flimsy. If you are looking for something that you can Transform occasionally then avoid the KO's as the more you handle them the more broken bits you get. This is only in regard to the KO Devastator, as I have never had access to any other KO combiner.

I had both the Devastator and Superion combiners. If you dont move them around much, thay are a good display holder till you get the real ones. If you're looking at more, the only other ko ones decent enough are menasor and computron. The catch is you have to buy both cause they have some of computrons guys in with menasor and vice versa. Dont waste your time on the predaking, defensor, or bruticus ones as they are the wrong colors all together.

All the ones I had/have are crap except for the small-scale orange Devastator. Out of all of them, Superion was worthless, Dev and Defensor are just OK, and Bruticus ain't too bad. But, I got Sup, Defensor, and Brut at Walgreens for $12, so I can't really complain.

The dev is good just for the combining accessories [Which are of Ok quality.] Otherwise he's falling to bits. I made a comic strip about the crappyness of them a while ago.

If there one good thing about the KO's. It feels good to destroy them once you get the real deal.

I don't recomend them at all, the quality on the standard size KO gestalts is very low. I have heard the small ones (which are as tall as a Micromaster combiner) are OK, but I haven't had one in my hands so I can't vouch for them.

My opinion is that you could have more patience and buy a single complete bit of each gestalt a month (for saying a time span) as that won't hurt your wallet too much. Otherwise, go for any of the "official" reissues of them - Generation 2 and RiD. The yellow G2 Devastator isn't hard to find and appears for reasonable prices (the orange G2 is tough) and a mint complete Ruination RiD (Bruticus repaint) is very affordable. The quality on them is pretty good.

Steer clear of them!! Just buy a combiner piece at a time and build him up gradually. I did that with Computron and Pirranocon, it make s it so much more satisfying when they are all complete and it has taken you a while to do it. :D

Or they damn things are very rare to find individually. [Dinoking for example.]

Thanks all for all the great feedback. Not going to go for a KO anymore, been convinced it's a bad idea. I am looking now at g2 and RID for now. Until I can justify gettin' a g1 combiner.

truth of the matter is, G2 devastator has his upsides: most modern equipment is yellow, not green. The constructicon green was only used in the sixties and early seventies in real life. Not to mention the G2 is more affordable!

My ko predaking lasted 2 hours before razorclaw and headstrongs animal heads fell off also some parts were very loose while others were so tight you couldnt move them.
