Airachnid!

Post by GC Brad »

Never saw Transformers Prime before, starting to go through it now...

Got to the episode where Airachnid is introduced, and it was such a cool episode. Grim and sorta brutal, and Airachnid comes across as a real creepy creepster. What is up with TFs who have spiders as altmodes?? She and tarantulas would get along well, if they didn't kill each other first.

Anyway, I saw the animators give her an incredible half-bot/half-spider mode that was killer! Unfortunately, once I dug out the figure I had of her, that mode seemed impossible to recreate. = (((

Beside that bummer, that was a great watch and a great intro to this new (to me) character!

What yer gonna wanna do is go out and buy APC Toys' Night Countess. She's WAY more re-engineered than most of their offerings, and I think she can be wrangled into the spideroid robot mode. The original toy is SO disappointing, even for official purists like me. Night Countess is worth the buy even if you don't get into their other offerings.
Airachnid is a great character, and definitely made a lasting impression on the tone of the series. Her introductory episode really relates the sadistic evil that is often missing from the likes of Megatron, Starscream, or the other classic con characters. It almost seems fitting that she's semi-independent, makes it feel like she's less ideological and more in it for the love of the game. I thoroughly enjoyed her arc, and I think you will too!

Never heard of that toy as I don't generally dip into third party-type stuff in the case of TFs, but she was so cool on the show, I def need some of that villain energy on my shelf. thanks for the tipoff!
