G1 Roadbuster - Missile Launcher
Good day all!
I finally bit the bullet and threw down a $20 on Ebay to get one missile for my G1 Roadbuster's missile launcher (now I just need to get lucky and find a reasonably-priced antenna...)
After getting it in the mail and happily sliding it into the barrel of the launcher, I quickly realized it wasn't..well, 'launching'. Was the launcher-unit actually designed to do so? I don't remember either way whether it did or not, but it seems hard to believe it shouldn't given the plunger/button on the launcher.
Just thought I'd check in with folks before poking into repairs.

Re: G1 Roadbuster - Missile Launcher
Due to an American toy safety law, specifically Product Standard 72-79, no US G1 toys featured launching missiles. Most launchers featured NO spring, or a spring weak enough to barely put pressure on the missile so it holds the locking trigger in place but no more. Some Autobot cars even had a small piece of open cell foam on the inside to create a bit of pressure on the launch trigger when the missile was inserted.
The original Japanese-released Dorvack Mugen Caliber would have featured a launcher spring. I imagine if you had a spring of the correct size, something could be retrofitted!

Thanks for the reply TT - I guess I never realized this, I'm just glad it proves out there wasn't a malfunction.
Thanks again - have a great weekend!
