pre-rub

What is the general rule for G1 collectors for pre-rub G1 TRs? Are they more sought after or is the TR name more important?

The pre-rub versions used to be more sought after than their versions with the rubsigns, however in most of them the differences aren't just "there" to tell if you are getting the real deal or a Transformers missing such label. The most remarkable case is Prime, as the accesories are very different, but in most of them you have to inspect real close to tell which are the earlier variations.
