Kids and Transformers
I was just wondering what was everyones rule for their toys? Do you let your kids, younger siblings, nieces, nephews, whatever play with them? Or do you have toys and then your kids have toys? Or do you just have toys in general that anyone can play with at any time? Or are there collectors out there? (turn the page...wash your hands..turn the page..wash your hands)
Subquestion: If you have girls do they play with the Transformers?

That's a good question
I do both.
I got some Transformers that are old and fragile and I don't let anyone touch. I keep all of mine under lock and key.
Let's say I go to TT's house, He's got a buttload of TF's out.
Out of respect, I would not touch them. If he handed me one and said "Here check this out" then I would.
It's a mutual respect thing to me.
Then I got some I let my Mini-cons play. But not when their friends come over. I only let my mini-cons play with them.
My youngest mini-con loves the Throttlebots. She plays with them all the time. Plus she has some of the objectformers from the movie. the video game, the digital camera the video camera and the mp3 player.
Plus I buy my mini-cons Transformers if they earn them and respect them. One is having Birthday is coming up soon so I got to go buy her more. START 'EM OUT YOUNG!!

I won't let my kids near them!! Given that Kaia my daughter is only 11 months and Carter my son is coming three its fairly self explanatory. Having said that I let him have Scamper for a while, I got him back when he got fed up with him. Not a scratch or mark on him, I was very impressed.
It reminds me of Christmas 2006, I got MP prime with the trailer and Carter seen it. He had all his toys and turned to me and said. "Gimmee the truck!" WTF!!! No chance kid!!

I don't let small children near my TF's or any of my other collections for that matter.
About going to see others collections. I i see any figure that I have not transformed I politely ask the owner of the figure if it is alright for me to touch that perticular figure.
{that leads onto what happened to me when I visited my freind who lives in europe[last year]. He let me play [transform/pose] with his overlord and fort max {incidentally if I had enought room/cash I would probably be interested in}.)

i have collected no mini-cons, but my partner's siblings have mini-cons of their own.
I have a bunch of Transformers out in the living area that are the general playing with Transformers. Both girls and boys seem to like playing with them, but then again, the girl that plays with them is three and she can play entire songs on Guitar Hero. Crazy.
The rest are in my office.

hmmmm...this is all very interesting. I just keep mine in a big box (i'm sure you're all himming and hawwing already) but if a friend comes over they're allowed to rummage I don't really care. I just say, "Don't break it" cause if they do they'll have to deal with the consequences.
And I mean, they're generally good with it, I haven't had a broken toy yet, I think they just want to figure out how it work and then untransform it. Like a rubicks cube or something. (Digression: what the heck is Kup suppose to be anyways? We call him Freddie Mercury-bot.) Likewise a friend of mine has a giant popcorn tin of Marvel Legends figures that I can't seem to keep my hands off of. But I think the Marvel Legends can take a bit more abuse. Not that I would be careless with them for the sake of being careless.
Do you think girls and boys play with toys differently?
A lot of you said that you wouldn't let anyone touch your toys without express permission...okay.. what happens if they do? Better question, what would happen if they broke it?
My next question: What types of toys do the minicons in your life play with?
(I don't know any children.)

Do you think boys and girls play with toys differently?
My son likes to make battle scenes
My daughters like to play characters.
What do you do when someone touches your Transformers without permission?
I keep all of mine under lock and key so that has never happened
What happens if someone breaks your transformers?
I would go insane. Then start discussing the payments.
(Depending on the person or how the break happened.)
If one of my mini cons break one on accident, there's nothing I would do about it except find another transformer and keep the old one for parts.
If some dumbo was around and tries to transform one without knowing what they're doing, I think I would grab it out of their hands before they could break anything.
What types of toys do your mini-cons play with?
Well my son has a collection of his own Transformers
He also likes Bionicles
My older daughter is all music and dancing.
My youngest daughter is just getting into the "I want Transformers" craze.
she's always loved to play with the Throttlebots.
But her favorite thing to play is Dora the Explorer toys.

I keep all of mine on display on my enormous entertainment center (which by the way the transformers have taken over so I had to move the tv elsewhere). Whenever I have family over for the holidays I keep my room locked cause my mini-con cousins love colorful little toys. If they saw one, it would be demolished in 6.5 seconds.

I don't leave any out anymore cause I have rude inlaws that don't ask to play.
Oldest boy - star wars
youngest boy - thomas and cars
Yougest girl - anything she can get her hands on thats not hers. Loves spongebob.

meh the rules are simple,
in my room nobody touches nothing, the tf's are in a closed display, where you can admire them from three angles, the rest of the collectibels are stored high off the ground, the only thing that can be safely touched is the arcade machine, if you put a coin in it if you wish to play....

The past is the greatest teacher
well here is my take.
I allow my children to play with almost anything (with the exception of a few snow white dolls that are mine and bucu bucks).
My children are 10, 7, 5, and 3. Now granted i don't think i would let my 3 year old handle the most delicate transformers but how else are they going to learn to respect their toys and take care of them unless we show them what they can and can't do. I believe the only way to instill the love for something transformers, ponies, dolls etc to allow them to play with them and "love"them. Whatever way that may be. As a child many of you "played" with your transformers that is why you think they are so cool.
NOw if it was worth 1200 bucks i probably wouldn't let them play with it. But $100 yeah. I would rather have them enjoy a $100 toy then just stare at it.
I am a collector (that is why i normally buy 2 lol if possible) but i don't allow my love of collecting to outshine my love of allowing the children to enjoy them too.

no is a complete sentence
My mini-con is wicked into Disney Princesses. (off topic we were at disney world last weekend and she was wearing her Belle dress. We went to see the Princesses, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Belle. We were the last ones before thier break and the guy in charge said lets get all the princesses together for pictures. So cool.) My one and only mini is 4. sometimes she askes to play with one but it never lasts long. I gave her a G1 BB key chain and she didn't really care. I think she likes BB because of his name.
Others touching them? Uh no. When there is a play day at my house that room is closed from view. If I am home I will be in there just in case. My wife doesn't even dust my TF, not even when I'm out to sea. (like I will be tomorrow, 6 days)
I have a corner computer desk. Some stand in the back on display. Sometimes they fall. Those are Armada or Energon ones though. The G1s are in a more secure location. The alternators, I have to stand on a chair to touch them.
No one really comes over and checks them out. One of my friends comes over but it is to play 360. My brother would like to check them out but he is back home, 1000+ miles away
