A few questions

I am just starting a Transformers collection and I have a few questions.

1. What are the best toys(that aren't really expensive) to start your collection? I already have Shrapnel, Bombshell, Kickback and Gears with Huffer and Blitzwing on the way.

2. Are the reissues worse quality then the originals? Do they break easier?

3. If someone has Megatron and Shockwave, tell me how awesome it is to hold Shockwave in one hand and Megatron in another

1. Not sure that yours and my ideas of expensive are the same thing. But I would look for a G1 sixshot. (average price about $70)

2. The officail reissues (encore, takara collection, TRU reissue etc) are the same quality but watch fior Knock offs that are also labeled reissues as there quality is very bad.

3. Don't have a shock/shackwave But have two megatrons is quite good (one repaierd and repainted G1 and 1 takarar reissue megs)

My answers to your questions:

1. Collect what you like. Once you have set your own boundaries, check for condition. Try to get the best figure you can afford, and stay away from the rares until you get familiar with them. There are mint figures which don't command high prices, like most minivehicles, the insecticons (which you already have) and the reissues, which give you the chance of owning a figure in great shape for lesser cost.

2. It is said that the reissues are of worse quality than the originals. But, to be brutally honest, they are pretty close, and some have subtle differences that make them interesting. Also, it depends on what use are you going to give to them.

3. I have one Megs and two Shockwaves (purple TF and gray Radio Shack) and I prefer to hold both Shockwaves, because Megatron is a bit small for an adult's hand.

1. you already have the best g1 toy blitzwing lol

2. reissues are just the same but without 20 years of playing so ilike them better (i know im going to get burned for sating that)

3. never held them

1+2: If you want to start your collection somewhat cheaper than going full blast on an expensive g1, buy a reissue. Tru, takara, and encores are really nice ways to get you started for less. I know because I have a few myself. The quality is great. Also, if your not a g1 purist (have to be mint no sticker wear) you can buy a figure without stickers and go to reprolabels to buy reproduction g1 stickers and your figure could come out looking great.

3: I have held both in gun mode, but shockwave and sixshot are cool to hold in gun mode as well.

I started out buy the cheap guys like Gears and Huffer, then my hunger grew and grew and then $30, $40, $100 dollars a piece became like it was just part of the game.

Reissues arent' really that bad. Watch out for Knock-Offs They are not made by Takara or Hasbro. Those are the ones that break easy.

As for holding Megs or Shockwave in your hand, perhaps you should ask them themselves how it feels to hold themselfs in their hands.

Just joking, my Shockwave is cool but if I hold him at a downard angle, he kinda goes... well.... limp
Megatron is a good toy to hold and shoot at the wife.
But one small bump and the barrel could fall off or the stock falls.
Galvatron is a cool gun to play with, just ask my....
"oh yeah, keep it clean"

Galvatron is a stocky gun and stays in shape very well.
Sixshot is a strange gun to play around with. It hold very well.

I've been looking at the G-2 dinobots...Grimlock in particular and if I didn't read incorrectly....... there is a G-2 Grimmy sporting G-1 colors. How do you tell the difference between a G-1 and G-2 Grimlock if they are the same color scemes?

1.I'd say Astrotrain,Blitzwing,insecticons,Grapple,Inferno and Dirge are among the cheapest to begin with.I would personally go for a Soundwave first,i love this toy/character.

2.I'd say there are pretty good,i'm totally satisfied with mine.Some are a bit expensive though,they cost the same as the loose G1 counterpart.

3.It's cool to have at least Shockwave,not to mention both.

How do you tell the difference between a G-1 and G-2 Grimlock if they are the same color scemes?

Stamping dates?I don't have one to compare.As far as i know there are some small mold differences as well that make repairs harder.

actually, it has the autobot symbol and the word "autobot". i think it's on the bottoms of one of his feet or somesuch, i don't remember. honestly, silver g2 dinobots are pretty rare.

Well, Deszaras, Sunstreaker, and Time Traveller thank you three Gentlemen. I do have a G-1 Grimlock.

I had gotten this one elsewhere and wasn't sure, teaches me for straying too far from here actually.

I just assumed that G-2's used the same molds with no adulteration other than color. I never owned any G-2 robots of either faction until I bought an Optimus for one smokestack in the late 90's so I didn't know about the stamping.

This is a music related question.

Do any of you know anything about the G-1 Transformers cartoon soundtrack........ later re-mixed into a dance/hip hop type CD?

I believe it was offered for sale at a convention as a premium/exclusive somewhere in the US in the early 2000's. From what I heard it was also multi disc too.

I wish I had written the information down but I couldn't at the time. I would have had a wreck! When I heard it being talked about I didn't even know such a thing existed!

I've tried searches for Transformers soundtracks etc. but all I've come up with in searches are titles for the 1986 movie and the 2007 live action movie.

I'm sure if I had an artist name for what I'm looking for I probably could find it.

So if you guys know and could point me in the right direction...I would most assuredly appreciate the help!
