Original box art

Post by Trailbreaker »

Does anyone know the names of any of the artists that did the illustrations for the early TF packaging?

Alas noone seems to know the answer. Even Hasbro told me the info is unavailable. Surely there is a someone that is considered the #1 TF historian in the world. Or #2 to Jose of course.

Unfortunately I still don't know enough about boxes, nor boxart itself, so I am unable to answer. However, I apologize for not replying earlier to let you know this and that you weren't being ignored.

There is no single answer to this question. There were many sources for the artwork. Some of the pieces were created by the original designers from Takara, etc.

For many of the later releases, you can thank such folks as Marcelo Matere, Don Figueroa, and some other folks that you might be more familiar with from the comics.

Remember that when the toys first were adopted from other toylines and were put under one banner, it was creators from Marvel comics that developed the character's final color schemes and personalities. That being the case, I would not be surprised if some of the early work for the box backers (those mural style paintings with almost all of the characters) were their designs as well.
