Question about reprolabels sets

Post by apocalypseprime »

I just heard about new sticker sets for animated bb, bulkhead, and optimus.
Might consider getting one or two.
So getting to the question. Does anyone know about the quality of their products?

Reprolabels are wonderful!!!!!! When you buy labels from them not only do the labels that would come with the toy originally come on the sheets but also the factory labels as well!

I love them. I have used them many times including making some custom figures, and ships.

More importantly (to me at least), can somebody tell me how to differentiate vintage stickers from those made by reprolabels? Besides the presence of 'factory' stickers on some reprolabels sheets? Does reprolabels label them as such? Or make some sort of marking? If not... they really SHOULD.

The ones I have bought have 'reprolabels.com" printed on the label sheet.

Thanks Ramjet.

Part two:
Has anyone purchased the NON-reprolabels repros off of Ebay? You know the ones... the sell WAY too cheap, and come from either China or Vancouver BC? Are THOSE markedly different in any some easily discernible way?

I'm trying to figure out if this mess of stickers I just got are all original or not... most of them are obviously legit, but some just seem to be in TOO nice of condition compared with the others...

Sometimes, the ones you get from other places can be good interpretations, but not originals. If you got an amazing deal, its probably cause they're not original. I have bought a few sets from other places, just cause reprolabels didnt have them, but they didn't have any sort of markings the way reprolabels does.

Are they on the same type of paper as originals? Are they cut the same way as originals? Are they of the same quality? (Again, questions about the non-reprolabels labels)

Yeah, I got a good deal, but more because it was a "6 Feet and a Pile of Crap" photo auction than anything else.

EDIT: Scans added. The scanner makes them look MUCH worse than they actually are. There isn't actually a plethora of white spots, for example. And the light reflecting off the silver makes the scratches look 20 times worse than they do to the naked eye.

I also got (not pictured, and all mint sets):
  • Japanese 01 Re-issue Optimus Prime Full Sticker Sheet (FSS), Instructions, and Weapon Set (with the Axe, yay!)
Japanes 09 Prowl Re-Issue FSS w/ Collector Card (CC)
    Japanese 08 Bluestreak? Re-Issue FSS
    American Bluestreak ReIssue Instructions
Japanese 45 Reissue Smokescreen FSS, Inst, and CC
US Skywarp 23 Reissue Inst and FSS (I think... do the US reissues come with Japanese stickers?)
US 10 Reissue Inferno Inst w/ Jap FSS
Jap 04 Sideswipe FSS w/ CC
Jap 96 Skids Reissue FSS w/ CC
US 24 Thundercracker Reissue Inst w/ Jap FSS
Jap 44 Tracks Reissue Inst, CC, and SS minus two stickers
US 06 Jazz Reissue Inst + Jap FSS
Soundwave: 3 Vintage FSS, 1 Reissue FSS, CC
Jap 16-S Megatron Reissue Inst, CC + Partial Sticker Sheet.
[/list]

PS: Somebody tell this bonehead why his img imbeds aren't working, please? (I ended up wrapping the first link in a URL tag, but didn't do the other two, you'll have to C&P them). Oh, wait. I think it's because Flickr blows. Drat.

The links aren't working at all. Try re-uploading them on photobucket.

They look pretty legit, but sometimes the paper is thicker on the non original sheets. If you had an original sheet, and the new ones, you could try a comparison that way. I dont have any originals free at the moment.

Hmmm... it looks like somebody (Thanks Mr. Mod!) went in and cleaned up the links for me... it looks like they should work for you now, Sideways.

The paper looks pretty standard... most of them are backed with a kind of yellowish paper that matches my providenced MIB stuff... but some have more of a whitish backing than I'm used to seeing. If anyone has any verified original G1 sticker sheets with a more whitish than yellowish backing, please chime in!

Mr. Fix-it: If you don't mind, could you please PM me with why my Img tags didn't work? Or post here for the other tag challenged folks that are likely to be lurking here?

Off topic, but I tried to embed one of your Flickr pics in the "Photoshop" thread, and it wouldn't work, so you're not alone. Someone give it up, what's the secret? I don't have a Flickr account, don't they give you tags like Photobucket?

Victory is mine! Flickr kind of sucks, but I figured it out.

There's a teensy tiny 'share this' button... then you have to choose to embed... then you have to copy paste... then you HAVE to strip out a whole bunch of html that doesn't work...

Anyhow, the photo is now embedded in the Photoshop thread. Woot.

Reprolabels are great!! They are pre-cut which make it a quick and easy job to apply.

The custom ones can be horror.. the marlboor sheet has quite some flaws. Havent used the ones for metrotitan and evil jetfire yet. Ordered quite some stickers from them in the past, love them. Some of the colours are a notch off in regarding to the original.

You mean the ones including the original sticker numbers?? yc col**** also has them. Due to new ebay policy he changed his store name, all he has is repro stuff.. but he always advertises them as the real deal. :?

I tried a few, just for fun to put them in the boxes with the toys. Got them from a seller in china just before all the KO sellers got kicked.

They are crap, colour wise, quality wise.. they feel cheap when you hold them. The printing has a lot of lines in them. The numbers are the same as the vintage one's. I wont buy them anymore, waist of money. :!:

i've dealt with reprolabels in the past , and wouldn't recommend them to purists,

most of their chrome based stickers don't survive aplying them to the figures,

i've redone my Wheeljack, Hotrod ,Jazzand some others,
the Hotrod set was disappointing, the rest was quality wise good, but doesn't have that original feel
