Bloated Optimus Prime
Hi all,
Can anyone help explain to me when you need the regular fists for optimus prime and when you need the bloated?
I recently recieved a OP figure that was stripped down. I am looking at the parts needed to complete him and trying to get an understanding of them.
Thanks!!

You don't need them, they just changed the molds over time. Any should fit, it's just preference.* I thought it was cool that my OP had the fists with no 'rim' on the top, until I finally got his gun. He doesn't hold the gun as well without the rims. My personal preference is the regular gun, though my OP has one of each in his hands (one is from the new Pepsi OP). I only have the regular gas pump, so I can't help you there, but I think the gray roller is cooler IMO (and rarer).
*DISCLAIMER: I am wrong a lot.

I'm not sure.......but.......
Doesn't the bloated fist Optimus with the grey roller/metal plates trailer have larger attatchment pegs on the fists, gun and pump than the regular "Purple roller" variant Optimus?
The reason why I ask is that I've heard that if you try to put the larger pegs in the regular "Blue Roller" variant Prime's arm holes, they will go with force but by then you've broken the chrome and also damaged the arms.
Trance or Jose should be the man to answer this one.

Roar is correct. If you place the bloated fists on a standard Prime you will make a small crack in the front lights. If your Prime is already stripped down I imagine it has some play wear, check for this fault on it. Other than that, IMO is impossible, or at least very difficult, to tell the difference between the early and later Primes without a magnifying glass.
Fred's workshop mention two more differences: darker color shade and different smokestacks. I disgress with both. For color it's possible to get darker/lighter shades during the molding process, and they can be accidental, or the samples matched can have had discoloration, etc., and the smokestacks are very easy to swap.

The pump, hose and nozzle (in my opinion this last one the hardest part to find of Prime) fit on the roller, which makes a "supplies" vehicle to provide some assistance to Optimus, in case he runs out of gas. The seats can be used by the Diaclone drivers.Ratchet wrote:Thanks to all 3 of ya! This helps mucho!
Hey,
On another note regarding this Prime, what's the deal with the hose and the gas pump? What's it for? I just don't understand why it is included.
Since we're floating on bloated Optimus.....................
Is there any difference in color between the label sheets of the grey roller/ metal plates Optimus and the "standard" Purple Roller?
I have a label sheet here and the pigmentation seems to be a little more light than "standard" purple Roller that I have.
Here is a picture of the label sheet in question arm labels versus the purple Roller Optimus' arm labels that came original with my toy.

Also here is a comparison between the shoulder Autobot symbol that has been on the toy for over 20 years versus the label sheet in question.

Notice how the shoulder sticker on my Optimus' arm is larger as well as has a larger silver border around the Autobot Symbol? (You can see it better in the first picture) The Label sheet symbol is cropped closer to the symbol and is a little smaller.
So can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the label sheets in Grey/Purple Roller? Have I somehow gotten a KO label sheet?
Theories?

Thanks, Wheezel. After looking at the shet in more dtail I believe its an original..especially after you said there are variants.Wheezel wrote:Roar: Theory: Need better pics scans. I have about a dozen Prime sticker sheets... there are some small variations amongst them. If your sticker sheet looks aged, it's probably legit.
How many Optimus label sheet variants are there?
