Thought I would post some pics of my restored Shockwave figure.
I was finally able to get a replacement for the rubber hose from his back to his arm.
The original looked like this:
With the help of an online beading shop I was able to obtain some black rubber tubing that is the exact size of the original part. I was able to use the existing end pieces and just bore them out to fit the new tubing in.
Here it is all fixed:
If anyone here needs to repair the tubing on theres drop me a PM....I have 2yards of the stuff.
also, advice for all of you... put some armor-all or other protectant on these sorts of parts. It will preserve them for years to come! Even your new one!
wow i just got a shockwave through the mail yesterday...this is impeccably timed thread.
Any of you "wise" autobots have advice in regards to reinforcing shockwave's legs? I took them apart and had a look at the miniscule notch that's supposed to catch on the small groove inside his "calf" piece. My Shockwave can stand but he could definitely use reinforcement.
This is by no means a permant solution to the leg clip issue. However I found this to work quite well if all you want to do is display him standing and not have to worry about the legs collapsing.
I used strips of masking tape layer about 3 thick. Then cut the little notches where the tab fits into. That seem to make the notch a little deeper for the tab to grab onto.
Someone may have a better solution, but this is quick and easy and it works.
@HotShot: That's a wonderful thing you did with your tubing and an equally great idea on keeping Shocky's legs from collapsing with tape too!
I was using toilet paper.
Hey.. don't laugh....it worked!
@Galvatron: Thin cardboard like a comic book backer or something like corrugated?
I am afraid to display my Shockwave because I have this fear of coming home to him broken on the floor. If I try you fellow's methods maybe I can trust Shockwave to have some thinking time out of the box for awhile.
Get Shocker's outta his box Roar!!! The legs on my Shockwave are ok, its his shoulder that is the problem, its a boot loose. Might (and I say might) have a look at it during the week.
Hey CM you most likely need to replace these two parts in the shoulder joint.
The joints get loose when the little teeth on that ratchet wear down. Also you could just try and strech out the spring a little to give it a little more tension.
TT I will give Hot Shots idea a go and if all else fails I will be on the IM straight away. No doubt kicking and screaming and cursing a lot!! Just the usual day....
