Anyone else seen em?

I was going through the store on base yesterday and I saw something that was funny and bad at the same time. I saw something by Playskool called Transformers Go-Bots.

That is just wrong, Transformers were infinitely better than Go-Bots and now there is a product associating both names together.

Welcome back - Now the GoBots name belongs to Hasbro - hence they used it in G2. Those Plaskool GoBots are aimed to little children, so I guess it's appropiate, as especially the Tonka-made Gobots (not the early Bandai figures) aim to the same audience.

I hated the Go-bots. Go to the scrap yard with them all! They were awful, leader 1 and Cykill. UH, gross. They wouldn't stand a chance against the transformers.

I love Gobots! They are very well made, regardless of the silly TV show. They have more metal parts, cars have accurate rims, no accesories to worry about, etc.. Unfortunately, their marketing was so bad that they are very underpriced nowadays.

I think I have said this before, but I'm trying to make them regain some respect... They are, sadly, bashed by most Transformers fans as they see them as the poor copy who tried to milk money of the Transformer concept.

I had a few Go-Bots as a kid. The one I recall the most was from Go-Bots Rock Lords and he was called Nugget (I think in some areas he was called Gold Nugget) I liked it a lot, he was very sturdy, but transforming into a rock was a bit lame. Reminds me of the joke they made in the movie BIG, where they pitched a transformer toy that was a skyscraper that turned into a robot! lol

i actually have a pretty fair collection of gobots. and frankly, i gotta stick with Jose on this one.

Unfortunatly I was a poor child and my mother was not able to get me all the Transformers I wanted but she did get me some. (And I still got em)
She was mostly able to get me the cheaper brand known as Go-Bots
I had Crasher, Turbo, Space-C, Z-Mon and a bunch of others.
I melted them and broke them and If my memory is correct, I used Turbo's rubber wheels for my Bumblebee.

I gave my son the train one don't know the name,plus where I buy some TFs I seen a go-bot still in the package,maybe I could buy it for a few dollars.

I never really could take to them, altho leader 1 was an excellent jet. Jose is right that they were better made and all also about the way they were marketed. A better marketing and we could have had an all out war! Tho we would have beaten them.

Yes, we could have had all of them... It makes me wonder why Bandai actually released some of their molds for the Transformers line: Jetfire and the Deluxe figures. All those were early made by Takatoku toys, which went out of bussiness and the molds were purchased by Bandai. If it's a fact that none of the now known toys as Gobots were all Bandai from the very beginning, they could have withdrawn all their licensed products from their competitor Takara. Nevertheless, Jetfire and the others weren't available for just one season, but two!

Takara also had some more "kiddish" figures which made it through the Transformers, such as the Jumpstarters, Powerdashers and minispies. In my view this big bias against Gobots is because of the idiotic TV show they had, but the toys are as well made as any other toy made by Bandai and they deserve some aknowledgement from robot lovers.

In the other hand, I have a few robots made by Gakken and they are quite crude. However, they had one of the coolest licenses - Genesis Climber Mospeada or the third generation of Robotech, a personal favorite - and they are now priced sky high. I guess robot fans are very emotional to value things.

That is just it, the cartoon show made them look so inferior. Leader 1 with Starscreams attitude and weapons would have been excellent. In fact as the mould for all the jets. There was a lot of contributing factors into the lack of interest from robot lovers.

that and the names were lackluster on the gobots. reminds me of the desperation in mini-con naming... i think they should have named the minicon "sureshock" "scooter" instead. sureshot was a tank micromaster. that made sense.

Running out of ideas again as well as names. If I am right there are 2 tfs with the same name, one of them tho is a micromaster. Can't remember who tho, times must have been hard!!

There are Swindle and Swindler (Micromaster). Those are what you are looking for?

In my opinion the Swindler name for the later Micromaster is unfair and almost offensive to me. Swindler transforms into a Delorean car, and I believe it has to do with that John Delorean being processed for drugs. While this person made a mistake which shut this famous car down, the Delorean was a true classic - perhaps with many faults from its own design, lack of power, whatever - which is known worldwide. A Delorean deserved a much better aknowledgment than that. Takara shot themselves in the foot with this - also the Delorean wasn't a common car in small scale.

The Delorean was built and designed here in Belfast at a place called Dunmurry. Its about 20 mins in the car from my house! He spent 3 years in total designing and finalising and then building the prototype. I thot that was pretty quick. You still see them about belfast now and again.
