Minerva and Cambreaker enter the cell occupied by Arcee. On their way there, Minerva requested the results from Arcee’s medical examination which Redline had gotten earlier. Redline was right – Arcee was in pretty bad shape, but the damages weren’t lethal. She would not be able to pose any threat to them.
Upon entering the cell Minerva finally gets a good look at Arcee. As their optics meet for a moment, Minerva thinks that she notices a sudden but passing fear in them.
Part of her detests what Arcee and Rodimus had done, but she had decided not to judge Arcee based on her previous actions. IF Minerva was entirely convinced that Arcee was really back to her old self, she knew that she’d still have a hard time forgiving and forgetting what she’d done…
Minerva looks to Cambreaker, wanting his permission to take care of Arcee’s most serious injuries. He gives her a nod, and Minerva gets to work, having not uttered a single word to Arcee yet.
As soon as she’s finished, she takes a few steps back and lets Cambreaker take over. During their walk back from the military quarters, Cambreaker hadn’t said much, and she still wasn’t sure what he thought about all of this.
As he after a long silence finally addresses Arcee, Minerva is surprised to hear the sternness of his voice. She turns to Arcee, looking for her reaction.

Arcee wasn’t sure how long she had been confined to the cell before she heard two separate pairs of footsteps walking in her direction. In the quiet darkness with nothing to do but try to control her thoughts, it was easy to lose track of how much time had passed. Rattrap, for some reason, had since left his post, and Arcee wondered just whom her visitors might be. She found herself hoping fiercely that she would see Blackjack again. She was sorely disappointed.
As Cambreaker and Minerva made their way into her cell, Arcee’s body tensed. This was it—the confrontation she had been so dreading since she’d first stumbled upon Blackjack. Surprisingly, however, this meeting between the three began almost … casually. Cambreaker, although sporting a stern look on his face, proceeded to nonchalantly remove the speech disabler from her mouth. Arcee said nothing at first, merely looking him in the eye. She would not hang her head—not this time. The two bots continued their silent stare, quietly attempting to read one another, until Minerva intervened.
Minerva … with all of Cambreaker’s intensity, Arcee had hardly even glanced her way. As the fembot began to dress her wounds, Arcee offered Minerva a self-effacing look, feeling both appreciative of her help and apologetic that she needed to do it in the first place. She had not known Minerva for very long before certain events changed the course of their budding camaraderie, and Arcee was amazed to find that the pain she’d been feeling was already slowly beginning to subside thanks to Minerva’s skill.
So. Cambreaker finally spoke. Arcee. What brings you back here.
She looked at him for a long time, not knowing what to say, unsure of how to express both the regret she felt toward the past and the determination she now had for the future.
Cambreaker … she began … I’ve been running through this scenario in my head since Blackjack and I found each other. And as many times as I have gone over it, I’m still unsure of where to begin.
She paused briefly, looking to Minerva for some sort of reaction. She looked more worried about Cambreaker than the situation at hand.
I know what you all think of me—that I’m a traitor. I’ve certainly heard the term enough since I arrived, and I’m sure you fear this all to be a trick. I can sense everyone’s hatred … your disgust. It emanates from your very looks. Arcee looked down at what was left of the Decepticon symbol on her chest. She considered that perhaps she ought not remove it, but rather wear it as a constant reminder--her own, private punishment to herself. I don’t blame any of you. I know what I’ve done … and I’m prepared to face the consequences in order to prove that I am no longer the traitor you believe me to be. She swapped her gaze back and forth between the both of them as she spoke, lingering on each one. Then her tone changed from one of remorse to one of firmness and full-fledged resolve. I don’t know what happened, Cambreaker—I don’t know what prompted any of what has occurred. I don’t remember the change, or making any conscious decision to fight against you. All I know is that what’s done is done, and I’m here now. And even though I might not deserve it, I want my chance to heal the wounds I’ve caused.

Cambreaker blinks once, and sets his jaw. Arcee's apparent steely resolve is admirable, unless she is still 'con and simply a vehement liar.
Minerva, would you mind stepping out for just an astrosecond?
Minerva seems unnerved at this request, but leaves Cambreaker and Arcee. Cambreaker reaches a big hand down to where Arcee sits, and she takes it, unsure of what is happening. He pulls her to her feet. With his other hand, he slips her the hilt of a long, curved energon blade. He has adjusted the blade length such that it cannot penetrate deep enough to damage the critical systems of his NEW body. Confident in his design, he removes his shield/canopy from his back, leaning it aside. He turns as if to leave. Arcee looks at the knife, puzzled.
Well, you've a job to finish.
Silence. Cambreaker turns around, grabbing Arcee's wrist and disarming her of the knife. He glares into her eyes for a moment longer, releasing her wrist, which is still dented from the battle several levels above and several months ago.
Interesting.... Either your patience is extraordinary, or you're telling the truth at last.
He calls Minerva back in, and offers Arcee a small ration of energon.
Tell me how I should guarantee your trustworthiness for reinstatement in the Autobot forces.

Inside Sideways' fortress, The Maus powers up and the factory doors part, as the repulsors fire, propelling the Maus up and away from the factory. The onboard computer triangulates and sets course for the signal it recieved, then the main engines fire and the Maus leaves. The factory doors close behind the Maus.

The Maus flies above the fortress, and the airlock doors open. Rev lands the ship and heads for Sideways and grabs him, throwing his body over his shoulder as best he can. With his one free hand, he grabs Sideways' head, which comes online.
R...Rev?
Rev looks down to see Sideways' head staring at him.
Hang on buddy, we'll get you patched up in no time.
I've lost a substantial amount of Energon, Rev. I need a medic.
Save your energy, Sideways. We don't need you dying on us. ... Damn, you're heavy!
My datapad.
Rev sets Sideways down and pulls out the datapad. Sideways' optics light up as he watches Rev pull it out. He groans as he speaks, telling Rev to hook it up to Sideways' Auxiliary Control Panel. Rev reaches over, pulling a small cord from the back of the pad and hooks it in the panel as Sideways directs. Rev, instructed by Sideways, presses a series of buttons on the control panel. As he does that, Sideways' body starts to disintegrate, leaving nothing but an armorless shell behind.
That should make your trip a little bit easier. Take me to the med lab and fetch me a medic. I'm going back into stasis lock to preserve energy. It's nice to see you again, Rev.
Sideways' optics fade to black, and Rev picks up the much lighter Sideways and grabs his head again, carrying him inside the fortress.

Cambreaker continues to glare at Arcee, knowing this is not a question she can yet answer. However, her hesitance to answer shows a glimmer of remorse that even Cambreaker cannot quite deny. Not yet ready to give in, he turns to Minerva, saying nothing further to Arcee. He sets a few non-combat sized rations of energon on the floor next to her bunk.
Leave her a pressure line repair kit, she can continue to fix herself up while she thinks about my question. I just got a comm from Rev, I think your skills may be needed elsewhere.
Minerva leaves Arcee the kit and a few harmless tools, and the two leave and head for the surface.
Rev is at Sideways lab, it sounds like our mysterious friend was decapitated after being briefly posessed by Unicron. Rev has him in deep stasis, but I don't think he has quite the technical know-how to fix him up right. If you could go to them and piece him back together, I'd be much appreciative. Since everyone else is out on assignment, debrief Sideways about what happened once he's back in action. I want as many details as he'll share. Once we've solidified our new objectives, I'll talk to him myself. I thought Unicron's presence was eradicated for a while yet. I've got to check in with the others.
Cambreaker and Minerva exchange a quick parting, then he stalks off to the command center, flipping open his comms as he goes, firing off messages in all directions and awaiting each reply. His new multichannel communications module was proving invaluable... no wonder that traitor Rodimus was unable to keep the Autobots moving.
Rev, I'm sending Minerva to aid in Sideways' reconstruction. She'll then debrief him on what happened. I want you to make sure he and his projects are provided for so that he can tend to giving her the information we need.
Rattrap, Dinobot, what's your status? I see your still in Tagon, and the command center's sensors are indicating some new power readings in your vicinity. What have you got?
Blackjack, where are you? What're you seeing?

The familiar skyline of Iacon comes into view in the distance. Blackjack still doesn't know how long he's been gone or what has taken place in the meantime. He wonders what kinds of questions he will be asked when he returns to the other Autobots. There are a lot of things he has learned and he wonders yet why Darkshock allowed him to leave after everything he had seen. As he reaches the edge of the city, comm comes across.
Blackjack, where are you? What're you seeing?
He responds, I'm comin' back into base right now. A lot of things are happenin' Cammy, the 'cons are all fightin' against each otha. I was gonna check in with you as soon as I check up on our guest. How's she doin'?
He wonders if the last question was too much. But he proceeds towards the holding cell area, nonetheless.

Rev carries Sideways back into the fortress and moves his body to the medical bay. He places his body on one of the tables and places his head next to him. Rev leaves the medbay and heads for the command center. RAI has directed the feed from the CCTV cameras surrounding the fortress. A lone autobot can be seen in the distance.
Who is that?

After parting with Cambreaker, Minerva comm's Rev who gives her the current location and status of Sideways.
She hurries off, not wanitng to waste any time.
On her way there, she thinks about Arcee's response, or lack thereof, to Cambreakers questions. She's not sure what to make of it, but hopes that Arcee will be more susceptible to his questions later on.
Healthwise Arcee wasn't in any danger anymore. During hers and Cambreakers visit she'd taken care of the worst damages and she was certain Arcee could take care of other repairs with the help of the small medkit.
Minerva finally enters the medbay and finds the badly damaged body of Sideways on one of the operating tables. Rev is nowhere to be seen. Approaching the seemingly lifeless body she notices that his head has been severed from his body. Although startled by the sight, she quickly composes herself and gets to work.

Still it is quiet in Iacon. But then again Blackjack knows that what he is hoping for is perhaps too much. It will probably never be the lively, exciting place he remembers. But at least they can work to make it less of a ghost town. He thinks about renovations to some of his old hangouts and the potential of creating a new business, one that suits his personal interests.
It doesn't take very long to reach the passage down to the holding cells and he begins his descent. In the darkness he listens and doesn't here much in the way of movement. Blackjack wonders what has transpired, what Cambreaker has done. He reaches Arcee's cell and sees here sitting there. She seems to be doing a little maintainence with a small repair kit and at least she looks reasonably in better condition (a sure sign Minerva had been there). He leans up against the bars, the dim light illuminating his figure.
So, how ya holdin' up kid? he asks softly.

Arcee paused from the repairs she was performing on herself to look up at Blackjack. Despite all which had just occurred, a smile formed on her face—she was happy to see him.
I’ve been better, she said … but I’ve also been worse. Actually, I’m mostly just confused right now.
Indeed, she was confused about a lot of things—how to answer Cambreaker’s question, in particular. The entire blade scenario had been an odd one—while she understood his need to test her loyalty, she found herself actually somewhat insulted that he believed she would be so foolish as to attempt such a deed. She had certainly done so before, yes; but Autobot or Decepticon, she knew better now than to take him on, especially in the new body he was sporting. It was all she could do to stand there, let him prove his point, and take his slap in the face. She knew there’d be more to come.
Cambreaker and Minerva were here, she explained, finishing whatever little work she could do on her frame and rewarding herself with a small ration of energon. Cambreaker had left her very little with which to work in the way of tools; she found it somewhat flattering that he had taken clear precaution against providing her with any means of escape. It was an indirect way of recognizing her intelligence, resilience, and, to a certain degree, stubbornness.
I know this is going to be a long road for me, Blackjack, she said. She walked around the small cell and stretched herself out as she spoke, trying to disengage all the kinks in her sore body. I’m prepared to walk it. But at this point, I’m afraid I don’t have any of the answers that Cam is undoubtedly seeking from me.
Arcee walked closer to Blackjack and leaned in close to the bars of the cell, her face just short of touching them. Her once-friend, now-savior appeared weary; always one for an adventure, she knew he must have just returned from yet another mission, with no time for rest between his meeting her and wherever it was from which he had just returned. Still, she appreciated the fondness with which he looked upon her.
Her expression turned more serious as she held Blackjack’s gaze. Thank you for coming to see me. You look like you could use some down time yourself, though, soldier.

He did feel weary. Was it just recent or had he always felt that way? Blackjack couldn't tell anymore. It was just one more mission, one more thing he had to do to defeat the Decepticons once and for all, one more step towards his revenge.
He watched Arcee finish her work and walk around a little. She seemed to be in much better shape now, but he knew that even if she yet wanted to, she would be unable to escape. She explained that Cambreaker had been asking her for answers that she didn't have. That sounded about right. He wanted to ask Cambreaker, to know what he felt about her being there.
Shortly, she ceased pacing and walked over to the bars and leaned in. In fact she was quite close to him now and it made him uncomfortable. She'd never been one to show weakness. There was always a willingness, a spark there that he'd seen and now he wondered if something had changed about Arcee. If she was giving in under the weight of this pressure. He didn't back away and she spoke again.
Thank you for coming to see me. You look like you could use some down time yourself, though, soldier.
He responded, slowly and with that hint of weariness in his voice, "I can't stop, not with the 'cons still out there. As long as there are still things worth protectin' I won't stop.
He paused for a moment and then took a step back. He felt sorry for her, still locked in a cage. But she had betrayed them and he understood Cambreaker's precautions. Still it was not any easier.
I went to the 'cons and asked them what they did to you. But they didn't answer me. I swear I'm gonna find out, no matta what it takes.
He held his gaze on her optics and said nothing more.

Minerva makes the necessary connections, reattaching Sideways' head to his body. As the final connection is made, his optics light up and Sideways regains consciousness. Unable to move his head, he moves his optics to see Minerva beside him. He speaks, his voice weak and strained.
M..Minerva? Where am I?
M..Minerva? Where am I?

I can't stop, not with the 'cons still out there, Blackjack said. As long as there are still things worth protectin', I won't stop.
Arcee could not help the smile which overtook her face in that instant. This was the part of Blackjack she always loved—the unwaveringly determined side of him that inspired others to fight until their dying breath. Where many great Autobots often preached motivation, Blackjack lived it … acted on it … demonstrated the importance of everything for which the Autobots had been fighting. It was part of the reason why Arcee hated showing any sign of weakness in front of him; although, lately, it couldn’t much be helped.
Then he said something that took her by surprise: I went to the 'cons and asked them what they did to you ... I swear I'm gonna find out, no matta what it takes.
Arcee stood silent, trying her best to hold Blackjack’s intense gaze. This last statement of his broke her heart, and she had trouble finding the right way to reply.
... I don’t want you to do this, ‘Jack, she said finally. You’ve done more than enough for me already. I know you’re never one to back down … and I know you’re not afraid. You’re a tough ‘bot. But going up against the Decepticons alone? She paused, thinking it over. No. Not for me. I won’t let you.
Both of them saw the irony of this last statement. Locked in her cell, what could she possibly do to stop him? There was also the distinct possibility that her words were only further goading him into action.
Blackjack took a few steps back from the cell bars, looking as though he were ready to leave. It was likely that his next stop would be to see Cambreaker.
Wait, Arcee pleaded. Look … if I really can’t talk you out of things, then at least let me go with you. I don’t know how long they’re going to keep me here … or if Cambreaker even has any intention of letting me go. But this isn’t your fight. It’s mine. If you truly refuse to back down, which I know you will because you’re so damn stubborn, then let’s at least do it together.
Just … don’t take this fight away from me, ‘Jack.

Minerva watches as Sideways slowly comes online and lets out a sigh of relief. It had been a close call, but she'd managed to stabilize him. His condition was still serious, but not life threatening anymore.
She'd done several scans, but none of them showed any sign of damage to his programming, only his body which still was in need of extensive repairs.
As she hears his question she takes a step closer to the operating table. His voice sounded so weak...
Good to see you back online Sideways, you really gave me a scare!
You're in the Iacon medbay and have been so for a couple of cycles. Rev brought you in and I was sent here to help.
...what in the name of Primus happened to you?!
Minerva goes silent and waits for Sideways to process the information and reply.

Sideways takes a little bit longer to process the data then normal, due to his trauma.
All I can remember was working in my lab, then something compelled me to leave out of the blue. I felt... possessed. I had no control over any of my actions. I remember heading towards Kaon when I ran into Scourge. For reasons I don't know, he cut my head off and left me there to die. Thank Primus that Rev showed up when he did, or I might not have made it.
Sideways looks Minerva in the optics.
I am afraid as a result of my injuries, I was forced to remove my alternate mode in order to survive. I had not planned for this to happen, but I did make schematics for a new body in case anything ever happened.

There was a long silence after he spoke, one in which Arcee merely held his gaze for a moment and then turned her head. She had seemed upset by his words, at first she'd smiled but as he continued her smile had faded and she turned away. Then she spoke, hurried, her tone conveying that she was upset. But more at the fact that he was facing all of this for her. Blackjack hadn't really thought of it that way. He had wanted to know if anything could be done for Arcee, yes, but now he wondered if that had been why he'd gone to them. And she was right, what had he been thinking. He'd marched into the middle of a Decepticon base and demanded answers from Megatron himself. It was suicide. Fortunately enough dissent was sown into their ranks that it hadn't been too much of a problem.
He took a couple more steps and prepared to leave when she spoke again. This time more calmly, but pleading and with determination in her voice. It was what made Arcee strong, her resolve. And he was glad to hear her say what she now said. She hadn't given up. But she was right, he wouldn't back down. It was his own, self-appointed mission and he wouldn't give it up. But maybe there was a way, maybe Cambreaker would listen to him.
Just … don’t take this fight away from me, ‘Jack.
I'll see what I can do, he responded, but it ain't gonna be easy. Even if Cammy gives me the go ahead to let ya out, I don't know where to start lookin'. Kaon is wrecked and the only idea I've got right now is to start turnin' ova every rock the 'cons have been hidin' unda on this planet until I get some answers.
He stepped towards the bars again. She was still standing there right next to them as she shouted this and walked up. His hand brushed her cheek as he spoke more.
You're stubborn too and I know you're comin' on this one whetha any of us likes it. And to tell the truth, there ain't anotha 'bot I'd prefer to be workin' with right now.

Having replied to Rattrap's comm about the construction of their Tagon facilities, Cambreaker arrived at the brig to check on the prisoner... and Blackjack. Grimly bemused by the last couple statements of this conversation, he just leans on the doorframe and crosses his arms over his chest, waiting for one of the two bots to notice, and observing how far this goes.

Minerva listens attentively to Sideways' story and is both shocked and surprised to hear him mention being what he called 'possessed'. She'd never seen or heard of any other 'bot who'd experienced anything like that. Thoughts of different kinds of manipulation and mind-control goes through her mind, and she wonders for a klik if this was some kind of Decepticon attempt to take over Cybertron once more. However, she had not been able to locate any devices or anomalies in Sideways' programming or systems that could indicate that the Decepticon's had even attempted anything like that.
As Sideways stops talking, Minerva looks at him worriedly.
I think you should have a word with Cambreaker as soon as you can, and let him know what has happened. The information you have might be very important for the Autobot cause.
She pauses for a moment and then continues.
I'll notify Cambreaker of what's going on here, and then we'll have a look at those schematics for a new body that you mentioned. You shouldn't stay in this state for longer than necessary.
