My current set of alternators:
Image

{I'll be getting sunstreaker, rolbar, camshaft and decepticharge eventually. Of the other four [prime, nem prime, sklids, swerve] I don't care much for three and the other is to expensive}

Oh and when I was putting them into vehicle mode I fixed something thats been bugging me:

I currently don't have any of the Alternators :( But they are starting to grow on me. I can see the appeal of them now from looking at the pics that have been posted here. A few questions for those of you that have them.
1) Are they diecast or plastic?
2) What would be a good one to start collecting with(ie not to expensive and abundant)

Alternators are plastic, Binaltech (Japanese version) are die-cast and plastic.

I can't believe I thought Cassettes were the way of the future.

Is +1 on Kups list.

The more expensive binaltech (japanese alternators) have die cast [metal] parts. the standard hasbro alts are all plastic. {some binaltech figures are also of a higher quality.}

Well the easiest (cheapest) ones to get would be either a suberu {richoet, smokescreen, silverstreak} , Sideswipe [dodge viper] or Rollbar/swindle [jeep wrangler]. all are quite good as starter figures.

(just don't start with optimus prime, as he will instantly put you off the figures. Purely as he will not line up correctly in vehicle mode after you've transformed him once. )

Far over the Misty Mountains cold, To dungeons deep and caverns old. The pines were roaring on the height, The winds were moaning in the night, The fire was red, it flaming spread, The trees like torches blazed with light.

Thats a sweet collection Sunstreaker! I always go with the cartoon colors too. Its easier for me. Kenner did the same thing with the star wars 4-lom and Zuckus.

You mean you have a end to this..this condition we all share? Everyday that target gets a little further away as they keep coming out with more and more figures.
