i'm afraid that's going to be the same on all movie starscreams, it's the way he is. the ROTF one doesn't look nearly as stiff as the old one. he has elbows and such, that make him look more normal and draw the focus off his lozenge-shaped chest.

Yeah, and it stems from his movie design. I'm not the biggest fan of his movie design, but this toy is good, for those that like figure. I really like his alt mode, and I actually like the tattoos...IMO fits really well with the rebellious Decepticon Air-Commander.

Actually I love his alt-mode, it's infinitely better than the first movie. I just think it would be a waste if I were to get it and leave it in his alt-mode indefinitely.

I think I'll wait till Leader Starscream to really make a choice.

breif review of ROTF rampage:-

Vehicle mode:
Lets start here shall we as he is packaged in this mode. {and yet some ROTF figs are packages in robot mode...} He's a yellow bulldozer, with some black red and silver applications. Altought he features ruber tracks these do not move but instead he rolls on four small wheels on the underside of this mode. Actions wise when you lift and lower his dozer blade two pistons rise and fall along with it.

Overall a nice vehicle mode. 8/10
{Due to his colours and alt mode he kinda reminds me of G2 bonecrusher and as such when I forget his true name he will probably be called Bonecrusher.}

Transformation:
Quite complex for such a small figure has a rather useless jackhammer mode which could be used as part of a display if you wanted the contructicons to be shown doing some work. some of the others also have these 'tool' modes. Good concept that helpfully doesn'r ruin the figure.

Overall transformation rating 7/10

Robot mode:
Should really be called centaur mode as I think Rampage may be one of the only TF figures to have such a mode. When in his centaur/robot mode Rampage is pretty awesome to behold. His unique track whip weapons and cohesive colour scheme {No allspark blue patches to be found.} add to this. The only minor problem I have encountered comes from his spring loaded legs but once you get used to them they pose little problem.

Overall mech/centaur/robot mode rating 9/10 {Purely for his uniqueness.}

Note: transforming back to vehilce mode.
I had a little bit of trouble doing this the first time but after figuring out that I hadn't moved a panel into the right place I had no problems

Final note:
Out of the two ROTF figs I have so far acquired Rampage is superior to soundwave. I'll review leader megs later this week when he arrives.

Totals:-
Vehicle - 8/10
Transformation -7/10
Robot - 9/10

Overall total - 24/30 - 8/10

went home during lunch and have some reviews for you:-

Same format as last time.

Robot/mech mode:
Image
Megatron:-
Megatron comes packaged in robot mode so lets start there. His colours are unified and match up quite well. He looks a lot better it has to be said than the promo pics that are provided. Pressing down the gold con logo on his chest rotates a pair of cogs inside his torso and makes him shout his name before laughing at you. [helpfully this part does nothing during the transformation of the guy so it won't irritate you] His right arm is a giant cannon which fires (in a wimpy way) a black missile. You can also shift a panel of armour down to be his claw/blade:
Image
His left arm is less impressive but you can still make him put his finger to his mouth in an evil fashion.
Overall this Megatron is awesome. With a good centre of gravity so he won't fall over very easily, he looses a bit of posability in his arms but this does not bother me.

rating 9/10

Demolisher:
Ah the unicycle of doom. After you are done being confused and having your brain muddled by the destructions hasbro have provided he looks pretty interesting. Definitely got the WTF and strangeness factors up around the 10/10 mark. He is very top heavy and likes to fall over a lot. Adding in his near zero posability (as his 'hands' are used to balance him) means you get him because you like the way he looks and want the WTF factor of him on display.

rating 6/10

Transformation:-
Megatron:-
While reasonably simple for a leader class (not as in animated megatron simple though) the way megs transforms is interesting. Again the destructions can play a part when you need to bring his robot mode collar up to form his face shield.

rating: 7/10

Demolisher
While his destructions are overly complex and drawn out demolisher once you get your hands on him is easily transformed. Best advice don't look at the {de}instructions just have a go at transforming him yourself.

rating 5/10

vehicle mode:-
Image
Megatron:-
I don't know what it is about him in vehicle mode with his head pointing forward and the maniacal grin present on his face due to the sculpting he looks like he's enjoying himself far too much. Again if you want you can fire the wimpy missile and deploy the claw/blade for some tank jousting action:-
Image
The turret doesn't turn but this doesn't seem like a problem to me. This tank is far superior to the previous movie megs and it is very solid if everything is clipped in right. Has a good weight to him as well.

Rating 9/10

Demolisher:-
This figure shines in this mode. You can see the full extent of his mech alive gimmick {which is nice and unintrusive}. Its a shame his tracks are fixed due to his transformation but its a good construction vehicle alt mode.

7/10

Final notes:-
Megatron:-
Do not discount this figure, if you are able to get him do so. The head sculpt is just excellent. I've transformed him a few times now and nothing has fallen off so bonus. {for example SW's legs and rampages shovel like to pop off a lot.}

Ratings:-
robot: 9/10
transformation: 7/10
vehicle: 9/10
total:- 8.3/10

Demolisher:-
Get him only if you intended to get him. I can't say anything to recommend you getting him if you have no interest in his WTF factor.

Ratings:-
robot: 6/10
transformation: 5/10
vehicle: 7/10
total:- 6/10

hmm interesting reviews. I need a decepticon leader TF to go with prime once he arrives...but I'm not sure if megatron is gonna be that TF. I'm not a fan of his tread feet.

I'll reserve judgment until after the movie comes out i guess. And then if I do purchase, I may have to learn customizing skills to customize him to my preference

Re: Desz' reviews

"RAMPAGE SUPERIOR, SOUNDWAVE INFERIOR"

tank jousting?

As for demolishor in robot mode, the trick is to have the bottom wheel fork bent forward under him, and then you can use one arm to balance, and another to pose.

When it comes to Megatron... the movie I liked, the toy I hate.

haven't got ROTF Megs. yet probably will soon though.
All that was needed is a catalyst... and the machines of war are set in motion.

Double review - scout ransack and legends jetfire

vehicle mode:-
Image

Ransack:-
Simply awesome, a really nice biplane mode that holds together perfectly, a unique and quirky alt mode. Would have liked to have rolling landing gear but thats a very minor complaint. {The arms being present under his wings don't bother me much either.}

Rating : - 9/10 {10/10 would have been with rolling landing gear.}

Jetfire:-
A very simple representation of a blackbird aircraft but good for a legends class although his robot mode head can be seen on the rear of the jet mode.

Due however to his size and the positioning of his joints he would make an excellent Target master partner for one of the larger figures:-
Image

Rating [legends class] 7/10 {includes bonus for target master mode.}

Transformation:-

Ransack:-
For a scout class very good. The [de]instructions for this guy do guide you through a pointless 'attack' mode which is unnecessary and will be forgotten very quickly.

rating:- 8/10

Jetfire:
Very simple as befits a legends class.

rating [legends class] 5/10

Robot mode:-
Image

Ransack:-
I've heard rumours of him appearing in the movie. If this does happen he should talk like a grizzled 1890's prospector. It would suit his miners helmet asthetic. I would have liked forearm swivels but again this is a minor complaint. Articulation is good and his colours look great.

rating 9/10

Jetfire:-
For some odd reason I really like him. {despite the positioning of his nosecone.} His articulation is good for a legends class and he stands up really well. A very good downsized representation of the upcoming FAB and leader versions of this character.

Rating [legends class] 9/10

Final notes

Ransack:-
If you do not get this guy there is something wrong with you. Definitely a worthy purchase.

Jetfire:-
Being a legends class he is not good value for money. {About £4.} but his targetmaster mode and the overall style of the figure won me over. If you can find him cheaper get one.

Final ratings:-
Ransack:-
vehicle:-9/10
transformation:-8/10
robot:-9/10
overall:- 8.7/10

Jetfire:- {on legends ratings}
vehicle:-7/10
transformation:-5/10
robot:-9/10
overall:-7/10

I believe Wave 3 has hit stores (per TFW2005.com)

Deluxe Cannon Bumblebee, Mudflap, and Ravage.

Target.com has them on their website, but not available for order yet. But they are the only big retailer with them on their website.

Target seems to be the best bet. I CANT WAIT FOR RAVAGE.

Review time.

ROTF superion

Air raid and airazor {AKA slingshot}
Image
these guys are the same mold so I won't go into much detail on each. Each comes with a pair of guns and a bridge part. The bridge part is needed for combining and does not fit anywhere on the figures otherwise. You have to leave it attached to one of the guns for storage. Colours are nice on this pair, Airazor's arms don't sit right in his jet mode but thats a minor problem. A nice pair. Transformation is reasonably simple as befits there scout class nature.

Combiner rating :- {Robot:-8/10, robot 8/10, transformation 7/10} 7.5/10

fireflight and skydive
Image
Pink{!} and brown with odd colour additions make this pair a fugly bunch. During tranformation those head guns will pop off and look like they could be easily lost. The energon weapons are good but the handles are very loose [probably due to mold degeneration]. Transformation is very simple, even more so than there fellow limbs. but you don't get the piece that can't be stored problem.

combiner rating:- {Robot mode:- 5/10, transformation: -5/10 vehicle mode 7/10} 5.5/10

Silverbolt:-
Image
This guy is spindly and hollow. the jets nosecone doesn't sit right while he is in robot mode and he has annoying sliding leg panels {More on these later} The jet mode is very flimsy and tends to fall apart into some kind of flail mode when you try and do anything with it. Colours are nice enough though.

Combiner rating:- {Robot mode 6/10, transformation 6/10, vehicle mode 7/10} 6.5/10

Combined mode:-
Image
Well to get him into this mode after getting the limbs right you have to battle with silverbolts sliding shin panels to get the legs onto there pegs. {You cannot hold the leg to ram the combiner limb into place, the bloody panel slides if you do.} After he is combined his head is very loose on its joint and he attempts to trip over his own feet due to there sheer size. And against the cockpit chest won't sit right. He looks pretty though.

Combined mode rating:- 6/10

total:-
slingshot {air razor} and air raid:-7.5/10
fireflight and skydive :- 5.5/10
silverbolt:-6.5/10
superion combined:- 6/10

Final total:- 6.5/10

final notes:
superion is not the worst energon combiner set. For the price he is marked at he is a good buy. Shame about the pink guy in the set and the minor flaws that mold degradation has caused.

pic of all three combiners:-
Image
Bruticus maximus is the best of them all, and classics constructicon devastator is the worst as he is very floppy {and I had mine new out of its box for £25. it has always fallen apart at any hit of a light breeze.}. Superion may not be the best combiner set but he's not the worst either. I'm looking forward to getting the ROTF recolour of bruticus when he is released.

ROTF starscream

vehicle mode:-
Image
While this jet mode looks sleek and nice when you see him on shelves it has problems. First and foremost the wings are held in place by very small tabs and on mine they jump out of place whenever I touch the figure. The hands and mech alive chest being visible don't matter much to me. I don't mind the tattoos on the figure but the fact that the small tabs probably won't survive many transformations.

Rating 6/10

comparison vs original movie screamer:-
Image
Image
Much less bulk overall here. You pay more now and get less plastic than you did before.

Transformation:-
Again the [de]instructions appear to annoy you. Transformation is interesting and nicely complex, probably one of the best I have yet seen from a voyager class figure.

rating:- 9/10

Robot mode:-
{shown next to original one for comparison purposes}
Image
The new starscrem is very nice in this mode if a little small when it comes to limb sizes. He has some missile launchers that a molded like gatling guns, very nice. {And unlike his predecessor he doesn't feature hair trigger missile launchers.} Having hands is OK but you can't really do anything with them due to how they are hinged. The mech alive chest is probably the best use of the gimmick I have yet seen on a ROTF figure.
Again though you get far less plastic for more money as he lack the bulk of the first movie screamer.

rating 8/10

total:-
vehicle : -6/10
transformation:- 9/10
robot:- 8/10
Final rating:- 7.5/10

final notes:
Starscream is a good figure but like all movie TF's he is flawed in many ways. Because of his great transformation and excellent robot mode he is worth considering but is hard to recommend.

Yay! I'm the first kid on my block with a ROTF Mixmaster!
Well....
His truck mode looks GREAT. well detailed, great colors and paint apps, rubber mirrors and side ladder, and his wheels aren't solid black circles (TF1 Ratchet and ironhide). He even has airbrushed dust stains on the hood and front fenders.

Like most ROTF, the instructions are confusing as hell, but i did manage to get him through the modes. the transformation is one of those where you're best off using the instructions as suggestions, and then just making stuff up to get him to look like the picture.

His robot mode is very mad-scientist looking, in my opinion. strange and a bit gangly, but i like it. he fits in with the constructicon misfits. my only main beef is that his rear wheels & fenders turn into kibble on the backs of his already overcomplicated arms. I was also a bit disappointed that his recognizable cab turns into his ass, but i suppose if it were more integrated in his robot form, he'd look too autobot. He's still got visual interest, with the smokestacks running along his torso, and some paint apps and color variations to make him look not so bland.

Then there's cannon mode....

I really don't know. I see how it's supposed to go, but getting it that way is a whole different story. the instructions are über vague, and there's this little hinge that only bends in the opposite directions as the instructions depict it bending. I've thought about removing the pin and reversing the hinge, but even so, i'm not sure if robot mode would work properly then... It's just a little segment of the long arm that holds the cab by the front bumper. I might just try reversing it and see what happens.

I picked up one for Minerva, and i see the hinge on that one is the same as mine, so it's likely on all of them...

Overall, I do like him. His back-to-truck-mode transformation takes a little practice, but that's pretty much par for the course. If you like the movie toys, get one. If you're thinking of trying the movie toys out, start elsewhere.
