Thickie has returned

Has anyone heard of something called a " Sixtrain " and how much one should be ?

I am in the process of buying a freinds collection and he pointed and said that that one is a 90% complete Sixtrain and it is fairly rare, can anyone help a Dino in distress. :?

Sixtrain is a JP -only micromaster combiner formed of six little.... TRAINS!
The originals are expensive no doubt, and it'd be a pain to find parts, but there is good news....

He was reissued by takara in recent years, and you can get said reissue for a lot less. I think the decor might differ. Also, so you have a clearer idea on the value...

Six Train, Original Takara, MIB: $150-$200 USD.
Zero sold within 90 days loose.

Six Train, Takara Reissue Set, MIB (x6): Up until this last month, you could get them for $23 USD SHIPPED. The price is now up to $30 USD shipped, presumably their stock is dwindling.

If you look on Evil-Bay right now, you'll also see a giftset priced at $110, I think. But it's in a non-standard box. I don't know if it's Korean, or a knockoff, or what.

Edit: TT is correct, there's a color change from the original to the reissue. Off the top of my head, there's also a Japanese "Sixliner" which I believe has a slightly different mold than "Sixtrain", a *reissue* Japanese Sixliner, AND the lone US release (Rail Racer), from the Universe line which are often confused for Sixtrain. I believe that the US one was a KB exclusive re-paint Sixtrain. Oh, and then there's a red chase Japanese Reissue Sixtrain. I think that covers it.

Head over to tfu.info if you need disambiguation.

I also wanted to mention:
Assuming Snarl's friend has a 90% complete original Takara Sixtrain IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, if I were Snarl, I would be HEAVILY discounting the price due to the fact that it's not complete. You'll also need to verify that it truly IS 90% complete. There are 14 pieces altogether, so 90% is technically impossible ;).

So, if MIB goest for an average of $175, it'll look something like this :
No Box -$100
"90% Complete" -$25
Offer = $50.00, tops. (And I'm not entirely sure I'd even go *that* high. I'd love to hear others' opinions on this one!)

But that's just me. The odds that you're going to find that other 10% are pretty slim these days, unless you take up Japanese. And when you do, you're going to find a bunch of other people competing with you in a similar predicament. I'm sure there are a few people here that can tell you ridiculous prices they've had to pay for a few parts to Japanese exclusives.

i agree with mr. price guide  start with 50 but balk at 60 depends on how bad they want to sell tho if you buying the whole collection ....that is a different ball game all together.

I would be buying his entire collection, which consists of :-

Sixtrain ( he has eleven bits with him )
Ravage - complete
Diamond Select Grimlock bust
Titanium die cast optimus prime
Ultra Magnus - just missing the rocket launchers and rockets
Optimus Prime - just the cab and trailer
Two triple changer headmaster bodys
Softimus Prime
Slumblebee

Are the missing pieces for Sixtrain bad to get hold of then ?

If that's his entire collection, odds are he has the re-issue Sixtrain. I can't see how he'd get ahold of him otherwise. Again, I point you towards http://tfu.info for disambiguation. If this is the case, you *might* be able to find people selling individual members of Sixtrain. Maybe. Not often.

You'll have a hell of a time finding non-reissue Sixtrain parts. Once in a blue moon, they'll come up. And somebody will pay through the nose for them. (I've seen a single fist go for as much as $35.00)

I have looked a stamp on the Sixtrain but I can not seem to find it. :?

Anyway, I have bought the Grimlock bust for £10 GBP
Ravage for £8 GBP
The two Headmaster bodies for £2 GBP each
The Optimus Prime for £15 GBP
The Titanium Optimus Prime £1 GBP
and the Ultra Magnus for £15 GBP.

That damn Transformer buying bug bit me again ...........

Sixtrain, he wants £40 GBP, I think that is too much, but I am asking you guys first. :D

Too much, especially if you can't verify it's original.

It does not have a box or anything, so I only have his say so that it is original, he is a good freind to Derrick, BUT I do not trust him as far as I can throw him.

I think that the Sixtrain can stay where it is. :|
