i watched a movie called 'The Rage' last night. it was one of those cheap horror flicks with bad acting and obvious fake blood but i would recommend it for the laugh.

That's EXACTLY what I thought it was going to be. I'm glad I didn't see it in the cinema, or I'd have made a spectacle of myself. My sis had rented it, so lucky for me I was alone in bed with no one to watch me cry.

I haven't seen Bridge to Terebithia ... don't plan on checking it out now, either. Thanks for the warning, lol.

I just re-watched the movie Elvis Meets Nixon today.

This was a movie made in the late 90's by either Showtime, Cinemax or HBO it was certainly one of the pay cable channels and it was so good!!!! The movie was funny, it makes you think and it puts a human face on two people both famous and infamous.

The thing about this movie is that it was based completely on fact! I am sure there was some artistic license taken in repect to scenes that the participants were not privy to but for the most part what you see in the movie really happened!

To begin there is a three part short overview about President Nixon and Elvis showing how their lives were in the 50's during their heyday stretching into the 60's in which their lives went through a lull and both had pretty much become cultural dinobots..I mean saurs  Then lastly at the end of the 60's in which both men rose from the flames of obscurity like phoenixes into notoriety once again.

The movie for the most part was well narrated by Dick Cavett, but there were also breaks in the movie where famous personalities such as Wayne Newton, Edwin Neuman, and Tony Curtis all gave their insights on Elvis' weekend away from home.

The movie takes place over the stretch of one weekend four days before Christmas, 1970.

Elvis becomes angry because Priscilla and Vernon (Elvis' father) chastize Elvis for spending so much money. In a huff Elvis leaves/runs away from Graceland in his brand new Cadillac dressed in a purple crushed velvet pantsuit complete with cape and cane. He drives to the Memphis Airport to fly to Washington DC.

The reason why Elvis is flying to Washington is to arrange a secret meeting with the DEA so that they can give him a badge and make him a "Federal Agent At Large"

Elvis having never left home by himself for years.... has to learn how to use a book a flight, use a credit card, check into a hotel room and basically fend for himself.

Eventually he gets lonely (the same night) and goes to his home in California where he is met by an ex-Memphis Mafia member and his english butler. Elvis is convinced by his friend to go down to where the "hippie" culture was and see how much things had changed. Elvis does and it is a rather rude awakening for him to see that he is not as famous as he once was.

Nixon in the meantime is beleagured by the Vietnam war protestors outside of the White House, and desperately searches for a way to have the younger flower generation identify with him. (There was even a mention of his appearence on "Laugh In" saying Sock it to Me?)

While on the flight back to Washington, DC from California, Elvis writes a letter to Nixon asking to meet him.

Nixon is given Elvis' letter, agrees to meet the rock star in the hopes that Elvis will make him likable to the flower children and this movie through a large series of twists and turns explains how the two icons meet.

Numerous times during the movie the celebrities interviewed said "You can't make this up! This really happened, and this is what makes it scary!"

This movie was extremely entertaining! If nothing else its worth watching for doughnut shop in a bad section of Washington, DC scene, where Elvis whips out a pistol to protect his diamond rings from a percieved threat.

In the end montage in the credits the narrator says that the picture of Elvis shaking hands with President Nixon is the most requested picture from visitors to the Nixon library in Yorba Linda.

I saw The Other Boleyn Girl today--it was all right. Intriguing until about the halfway point; once things begin to unravel, you know where it's all headed and it starts to get a little depressing. It was really more of a soap opera than a historically accurate piece of work, but I think that's more or less to be expected. All in all, it could have been better, but I certainly wasn't disappointed--I got what I wanted from the film. Out of ten, it would be a seven or an eight, I think. Still trying to process it all, because I spent most of the movie just drooling over the wardrobes...

Saw The Gameplan on Saturday night. It's a "family" movie, so while it wasn't brilliant, it was still good ... had a number of funny parts.
Someone lent me The Pink Panther and is forcing me to watch it, but I'm apprehensive. Has anyone seen it? He said it's really funny, but I find our senses of humor don't always match, and I remember the trailers had made it look stupid...

Which Pink Panther are you speaking of?

If you are looking at Peter Sellers, then it is brilliant.

If it is Steve Martin, then file it under "nice try."

So, its official. Since the new Iron Man movie rocked so much, and it broke most opening day records, the sequel is in the works. Robert Downey Jr is still stark, and he will make a guest appearance in the new Hulk movie. This Iron Man is The best marvel movie to date.

SPEED RACER
Just saw it tonight and gotta say not what I was expecting. It happened to be really good packed with lots of action. Little long but I was on the tired side when we got there and fell asleep a couple times; got a little lost in the story line because of it. Otherwise felt like I was in one of those hotwheel video games( a good thing ). Gotta get me one of those rides. Recommended summer flick.

We saw the Iron Man movie as part of a double feature last night and I have to say that this is the best Marvel movie to date because of its staying pretty much true to the origins behind the character. It was nice that the writers and director also put in little goodies for the hardcore fans like the obligatory appearence of Stan Lee and the use of the 1966 Iron Man cartoon theme during the awards ceremony. Anyway have your popcorn candy (or whatever you snuck in) ready because the movie is action from start to finish!

I won't tell you anything about the movie as not to spoil it but.......if you're really not into watching the movie credits at the end of films you might want to stay and watch the credits for this one because there is a special appearance of another Marvel character at the end of it that was a bit surprising and a treat.

We went to the Bright Leaf drive in Mount Airy to see Iron Man so we got to see a another movie after intermission which was "The Ruins".

If you've not seen it in the theatre yet .......its not bad or good but if you have a problem with blood this isn't your kind of movie.

Two couples go to Mexico for fun and run into a man from Munich and his friend..... who has a map to a Mezo-American pyramid offer to take the two couples with them to see the temple. The group hires a taxi to take them to the general area of the ruins and go looking for it. They can't find the hidden pathway to the trail that will take them to the ruins but they "get lucky" and find it.

After the couples and their guides find the pyramid and set foot on it they are surrounded by a group of armed gunmen. After one of the party is killed when he tries to negotiate with them....... wacky hijinks ensue and the rest of the group is made to climb to the top of the pyramid and not allowed to leave.

The group is not actively pursued by the gunmen, just guarded to amke sure they don't leave.

What ensues is bloodshed, murder and mayhem that culminates into one of the strangest open ended movie endings ever filmed.
If you have Dish, Direct or cable you might want to wait for it.

Anyone seen the movie Facing The Giants? I thought it was a very good movie!
